I was in another six-bed long-term room, three bunks, really quite bigger than the last, though still filled with long-termers and therefore all sorts of random crap we'd accumulated.

One of my favorite moments was when they set up an artificial ice-skating pond on the main drag around Christmas and Alcoholic Ned came running home at top speed, ( Read more... )

Five years in a hostel?!
That's not normal, right? I mean, I don't have a lot of hostel experience (read: none) but I just can't imagine living in one for more than a few months.

I've always said that living in a dorm would be my version of hell but living in a hostel? Tops that immeasurably! Ugh. I actually had no idea you could stay in them long-term. I've never stayed in a hostel ever but I did look into them once a lot of the ones I saw had a limit of either two weeks or one month.

I'm fascinated by the thought of living in one, as an observer, though. All the insane, different people coming in and out and all. I hope you post a lot more stories about living in these places!

...only a canadian... well, we do love our winter activities. too funny. as for the rest of it, thats just unpleasant.
