I am so pleased with myself right now. :D
For ages, I've been trying to get my best friend into at least ONE of my major fandoms. While I love all of my board-buddies , it's nice to have at least one person OUTSIDE of the internet to squee and rant with, you know? Well, I'd tried and failed with the last two fandoms I attempted to involve her in:

Out of random curiosity, which episode did you see? Do you remember anything about it?

And it's always nice when you can get a friend into your fandom. I remember way back when I was an x-phile, had all the books, the guides, posters, and the only person into it with me was my mom. This was pre-huge-internet-fandom days. It always nice to have someone to talk to about stuff.
For the meme: Rome (love this show. I rec it all the time and people watch it, and love it)

I love it to bits now that I can actually see the pictures! :D
(see next entry)
You DO sound like quite the phile! I didn't get into X-Files until about two years ago, give or take, after catching some TNT reruns late at night. I wish I'd gotten into it years ago! :) I own the first three seasons and the IWTB movie on DVD, and I have the first three season guide books along with a FTF making of book. I tried to get my mum into it but she thinks it's too scary.
There actually WERE days when internet fandom wasn't enormous?!
I can hardly imagine such a thing. Must've been fun being a fan way back when though. I love having fellow fans to chat with! It really does make it ten times more fun.
Rome is an HBO dramatic series depicting the history of ancient Rome with people like Caesar, I believe. I'd thought of watching it. So it's really good? I'll have to add it to my amazon wish list. :)

It was tough back then but they had fan zines and fan newsletters that you could subscribe too. It wasn't the same thing as it is now but it makes you feel less alone. And there were all the books and novelizations and stuff. I still have all of that in my closet.
Rome is probably one of the best shows every put on television. It got cancelled after 2 seasons due to cost but those two seasons, wow. I got into it after a rec and now I rec it to others, who in turn well, rec it to others. It really is that kind of show. Just amazing.

Ah, fanzines. I've heard of those. I know fandom's come a LONG way since the early and mid-90's, but I love hearing the stories from fans like yourself who were there back in the day. :) What can I say, I love to romanticize the past. :)
Half the really good shows get cancelled. *sigh*
If that many people love it, then I will definitely have to give it a try! :D

For the meme: Boston Legal.

Hmm, Boston Legal is the lawyer series with James Spader and William Shatner in it, right? All I know about it beyond that is that it somehow connects with The Practice and W.S. character is named Denny Crane. What's it like?

You really don't need to see the last season of The Practice to understand what's going on, but you would see Shatner and Spader's characters getting established.
The show is amazing. It's kind of more dramedy because you will definitely be laughing. It's quirky, but all the shows David E. Kelley creates are.
Denny has Alzheimer's, but calls it Mad Cow and he'll do the craziest things. His best friend, Alan (played by Spader), is usually the one to reel him in. There's dozens of other characters throughout the five seasons and you'll see Candice Bergen starting in the last half of season 1.
Just don't read about the series finale because you'll definitely be spoiled.

The commercials have always looked amusing, so perhaps I'll give it a try. I love quirky if it's done right.
I'll be sure not to read about the series finale then. :D
