When she walks into the clinic, the first thing Cuddy sees is that the waiting room is empty. She begins to fear she was right about the hostage situation when she sees Nurse Brenda at the desk. House hates Brenda. If he'd taken hostages, she'd have been his first victim ( ... )

Deciding to put House out of her mind and get some actual work done, Cuddy puts in a call to the lawyers to warn them to expect a case in the next few hours, possibly a major one, before settling down to go over the January clinic schedules. She's moving some people around so that House never works with anyone she thinks he'll be able to make cry (which includes all of the interns except one, who seems to be in love with him, and is actually the reason she hired Brenda) when there's a knock on her door ( ... )

The watch is probably about even with the bracelet she just received, and the noise canceling headphones are Bose, which is the best brand on the market. But she doesn't think he would have given her most of her Christmas early, which means the bracelet probably isn't her biggest gift.

"Stop it," he says, interrupting her.

"What?" she asks, distracted.

"You're administrating," he tells her.

"I'm a hospital administrator," she points out.

"Yes, but right now, you're administrating our life. You're calculating whether you've got something for me that's equal to the bracelet, and worrying about what else I've got for you and planning a shopping trip to make sure what you give me is equal to what I give you. Don't. I'll be disappointed if I don't give you at least twice as much stuff as you give me," he reassures her.

A little distracted by the 'our life', as well as by how well House knows her, it takes Cuddy a moment to respond. When she does, she realizes how out of character this whole conversation has been. "You want to ( ... )

Aw, that was wonderful, thank you mystery author! :) Loved Cuddy's POV, House's sweetness, and all the little details in this like their conversation about how much different doctors are wroth (Wilson being .99 a doctor because of his liver, haha!) and the different gifts they got each other. Cuddy totally would get House a toy helicopter!

Merry Christmas, thanks! :)

I'm SO glad you liked it. :) The Cuddy POV was a first for me and I was really nervous about it, but she's a lot of fun to write!

The toy helicopter was one of my favorite parts- I searched gifts for teenage boys (because House is really a 14 year old, of course!) and found the helicopter and the book, and both of them just seemed perfect.

Merry Christmas to you too!
