Title: Maryland Author: Shalott aka astolat Website: Intimations.org Pairing: House/Wilson Rating: None listed but I'm sticking with PG-13 for slash and sexy fadeouts. Summary: What's so great about Maryland

Yes. Yes, it is. :-) Read it through twice and I'm working on a third time.
Dira Sudis does such a great job with adding layers to both Chase and Cameron while keeping them clearly recognizable as their canon selves. And even though it's such an emotionally-charged story, I really liked that there was no romance and no sex. Powerful emotions aren't reserved for (as she has House put it) the newly-fucking and the recently-regrettably-fucked, and Dira Sudis does a great job in this fic of showing how a complex, fluid, strong relationship can exist without the component of sex (though,to be fair, it's not entirely without a component of the physical.)
Awesome recs. Maryland was the fic that sealed the deal on House fanfic for me.
I had never heard of/seen/read Last Rites, so I'm very glad you recommended it, because after reading it, I now know exactly how much I was missing out on. I don't read many fics with the ducklings as central characters so I can't make any sweeping comments, but I felt that this fic kept everyone so well in character and was just so downright *believable* that it is a perfect fit for this comm given its stated goals. I would recommend this fic to anyone, House fans and non-House fans alike, because it is so well-written and deals with the issues it raises so well in with such verbal economy that it is a shining example of just how good fanfic can be. I came out of this fic with a much better understanding of what makes Chase tick and I'll never look at him the same way again. So, thanks very much for the recs and I'm off to re-read Maryland for the umpteenth time. :)
Definitely Last Rites is an excellent fic. It is one of the very few House fic I recommend to someone who is not in the fandom. Possibly good enough to stand on its own as a short story without the fandom aspect.
