In the garden

There is much to do in a garden in autumn. Taking out dying plants, preparing beds for the cold to come, harvesting seeds, and the like.

Ingress is having a grand time plucking out the seeds from the giant, dried heads of the former sunflowers.

"Lots of seeds are in here, huh?" She shakes the head, and more fall out.

"Yes."

Nynaeve's voice is not as sharp as it might be, were she speaking to an adult.

"The world is not a healthy place for the young--not even young plants."

"Yes, and not yet used to what they must do to survive."

There is a lesson here for Ingress, too, though Nynaeve suspects she may have already learned it.

"But some are tough and they make it to be big."

Yeah, she's learned that lesson all too well. She shakes the sunflower and giggles as more seeds fall out.
