She can only imagine how much moving around hurts.
It turns her face a little gray at the edges, just thinking about it.

"What is it you think you're gaining? Is it stubborn male pride? A sense of vindication?"

He does not want kindness from a stranger, if his own family and kin cannot love him. It's the slap in the face, the insult to injury.

She doesn't quite yell, but her color is higher than it was, and this time she lets go of her skirts long enough to tug at her braid again.
Light, Li is so exasperating.
She takes a deep breath.
"Now. Would you please sit down so I can make some tea? It'll help you with the pain, I believe. And if not, we'll try something else."
She is still a hairsbreadth away from boxing his ears.
This is likely a state of affairs that will last a long time.
