Tom's actually working on work in his study, without the laptop in evidence. Door's got it for the afternoon.

They're going to have to get another at some point.

It's with some surprise to see Draco walk in. Today is not one of the days he comes for research duties.

"Hullo there."

He takes in the younger man's face.

"What's wrong?"

Draco's face was so pale that it looked grey. His eyes were red, and very raw. Some evidence of crying.

He tried to straighten himself up, smooth his features.

It only worked for him to dully and tonelessly state, "Father's gone."

Seconds later, the emotions exploded out of him in choking sobs, and he collapsed in a chair, shaking all over.

He steps over, placing a hand on Draco's shoulder.

"Gone as in gone from Milliways, or gone as in-"

More crying before he could finally gasp out, "He's d.... dead. Saw the b..b...body."

Brief spark of anger, "Murdered," and then back to crying again.

"Oh bloody hell, I'm sorry, Draco," he says, his voice dropping into a more soothing tone. "Did you witness his murder?"
