Author's Note: I'm stalling on some homework... so I decided why not distract myself with femmeslash?

"No. No, I understand." Julie said softly into the phone. "Really, Jimmy." She smiled a little.

Lady moved through the kitchen, giving the counters a final sweeping.

"I love you, too... bye." Julie hung up the phone and sighed.

"Are you ok, Mrs. Wilson?"

Julie shrugged. "Well, the honeymoon is over..." she laughed a little, leaning back against the wall. "This is the third time this week. I'm... I'm just lonely."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

She shrugged again. "Are you heading out?"

"Yes, I just finished with the living room."

"Do you have any plans tonight? I mean, would you join me for dinner? I don't really feel like being alone." Julie said softly, looking up and catching Lady's eyes.

There was a long silence.

"Ok, Mrs. Wilson. I'd be happy to have dinner with you."

"Call me, Julie."

"Ok... Julie."

The meal was relatively silent. But Julie found this silence comforting. She glanced at Lady again. Lady was young, younger than Julie, she figured maybe 25. She was very pretty, Julie observed, watching the delicate curve of her cheek as she ate. She pushed her food idly around on her plate as she watched her. The food was starting to get cold but Julie didn't mind very much.

Lady left that night after the dinner was finished. Lady had tried to do the dishes whereupon Julie insisted that being the hostess it was her job and reminded her that she was off the clock.

Julie poured herself a glass of wine and settled in on the couch. She tucked her legs up under her and leaned her head back against the cushions. She sighed heavily, taking a sip of wine and letting it slide down her throat. She intended to wait up for Wilson, but after a few more glasses of wine keeping her eyes open became an impossibility.

The next morning she woke up to the door closing softly. "Jimmy?" She sat up, rubbing her tired eyes.

"No, sorry, Mrs. Wilson. It's me." Lady answered.

"Julie." She corrected in a soft murmur with another sigh. She looked down at the table, picking her wine glass up off the table only to find a handwritten note stuck delicately underneath the glass.

'Dear Julie,

I'm sorry I was so late last night, I had a few emergencies I hadn't planned on. I didn't want to wake you, you looked so sweet and peaceful. I don't expect to be home for dinner again, I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you this weekend, I promise.

Love,
Jimmy'

She crumpled up the note in a fit of dejection.

"Quit your job, Julie." She mimicked the speech Wilson had delivered when they were first married. "I make plenty of money. You'll never want for anything. Let me take care of you." She sat up, "Well, Jimmy. You were right about the money but off the mark on everything else." She tilted the wine glass back in hopes that she hadn't finished it last night. No such luck.

She sighed, leaning forward and burying her face in her hands.

"Are you ok, Mrs. Wilson?" Lady asked, stepping up to her and putting a delicate hand on her shoulder.

"Lady," Jule said softly, placing her hand over Lady's and stroking gently. "Don't ever let a man fuck with you like this."

"That I can promise you," she said with a small laugh.

"How can you promise me that with so much certainty?" Julie asked.

"Because, Mrs. Wilson, I don't date men."

"You don't?"

"You sound surprised."

"I am." She stated honestly. "But you're so pretty."

"That has nothing to do with it." She chuckled good-naturedly. "I did date men. For a while. They just... didn't have what I was looking for. Women are just so much... gentler and kinder. I just prefer the company of women."

"There's an alternative?"

"An alternative to what?" Lady asked, with a slightly raised questioning eyebrow.

"To this."

"To being married?" Lady furrowed her brow. "Are you asking if the opposite of being married is lesbianism?"

"I guess so."

"No. It's not an alternative to being married. It's an alternative to being straight." She smiled.

Julie smiled.

"There, you're smiling again." Lady smiled warmly. "Why don't I put on a pot of coffee and draw you a bath?"

"That's not in your job description." She smiled.

"You're having a rough time, I think we can make the exception." Lady patted her shoulder and went into the master bathroom. She turned the hot water on and poured in some of Julie's lavender scented bath bubbles. The water steamed and the subtle scent of lavender filled the room. She heard Julie moving around in the bedroom.

Lady opened the door, "Bath's all ready for you, Mrs. Wilson."

"Thank you, Lady." She smiled.

"My pleasure." Lady smiled back. She slipped out of the room to give Julie her privacy. She ground the coffee beans, the gourmet French roast that Wilson had imported from Provence. While she let the coffee percolate she ran a cloth over the counter, cleaning up the hurried bagel and cream cheese Wilson had half eaten that morning in his haste to leave for work.

The coffee pot gurgled, signalling that it had finished percolating. Lady poured a cup, added cream and two sugar cubes and stirred it together. She knocked gently on the bathroom door. "Mrs. Wilson, are you decent?"

"Yes, you can come in."

Lady slipped inside the bathroom, she bent down and set the mug down next to the bath.

"Is there anything else I can do for you, Mrs. Wilson?"

"There is one more little thing you could do for me," she said softly and then paused, so Lady had to kneel by the tub to hear her well.

Julie cupped her cheek and pressed her lips to hers. She exhaled softly against her lips. Lady was tentative about returning the kiss at first, but Julie's lips were warm and inviting. Lady cupped Julie's cheek and ran her fingers through her hair. Julie parted her lips against Lady's though Lady waited for Julie's tongue to make the first hesitant exploration.

The kiss broke breathlessly after a few long moments. Julie cupped both of Lady's cheeks. "Call me Julie," she whispered as she kissed her again.
