Mod post - Now What?

Oct 06, 2011 14:06

So, obviously we're going into this season with quite a big change. Consider this post our official brainstorming center as for where we all want this community to go. We want to maintain this awesome community, keep it going, whether it's reliving old memories or writing new ones. We've talked a bit about some ways we can keep things active, but ( Read more... )

I'm not watching anymore, but I love this community, and hope it stays active.

Knock yourself out with the new ep discussion posts - it's easy enough for me to not click.

If you have old ep discussions, I might pop in once in a while. It's hard to commit to that kind of thing when there isn't the 'deadline' of a-new-ep-on-my-tee-vee-right-now, though. :-( (I've seen it in other fandoms, and the success is hit-or-miss. There might be enough of us still here to make it okay, though.)

I fully intend to make new fanart based on the old paradigm, and I hope others will, too. (Intend being the operative word - need a talent boost.)

I'm just sad that this place turned into a "hate/the show is crap" community :(
I loved so much here and specially some members.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened ;)

I think that's simplifying the issue at hand. A lot of people have very eloquently stated why they no longer watch, support or enjoy the show. I think it's very unfair to simply label this community a hate community or one that thinks the show is crap. Everyone is entitled to our opinions and it doesn't make people automatically wrong when their opinion is different then yours isn't that true? I'm not sure what you're expecting from a House and Cuddy community when Cuddy is no longer there. This place is full of intelligent people with intelligent things to say, I don't think it's turned into anything different. It seems like you want to criticize the fans for finding anything wrong with the show and we were asked by the mods not to bash each other.

Not only that, but I think the nature of last season's finale and the manner in which TPTB wound up "writing off" Cuddy is the larger issue. Not that it wouldn't suck if Cuddy left some other way, but, I think this is worse than just bitterness that half of our ship isn't on the show.

I feel like my show was fucked over, not just my ship. Not to mention some pretty basic tenets as a woman (and, to make matters worse, with such genuine flippancy after the fact by Shore).

I think you should put up new episode discussions if people who are still watching need them, so they can discuss them here with fans who see the show through pretty much the same glasses as them.

I would love old episode discussions, it would be nice remembering the good old times, refreshing memories of how we started to ship them, what were the moments which made us squee, which made us hopeful, the moments we shared discussing them here, etc, etc. I would participate in that.

What I would also like is what I wrote in the below post: it's the new episode recaps from fellow Huddy fans. Though I can't watch season 8, I would love to read what happened in the show, and especially what concerns us, Huddy fans, just the gist of it, like "episode was lame, no mention of Cuddy, Foreman's the boss, new chick is like..., House and Wilson are not talking", just to know how the show handles all these changes.

I'd like this too, if someone would oblige.

I mean, I'm sure the new-ep discussion threads will kind of go over that, but I don't want to a) wade through everything just for the gist, and b) possibly sour those threads for folks who *are* still interested in watching.

It's like breaking up with a boyfriend who's bad for you - you don't want him back, not even secretly, but you're still vaguely interested in a passing account of what he's doing.

100% on board with this and in the same boat. Maybe instead of finding someone to write it each week, we just make a post the next morning in the vein of how old discussion posts worked - ep title, number, director, etc, and people can all leave their summaries in the comments.

Would we still keep live discussion during the episodes going though? I would hate to lose that.

wow, lj is NOT cooperative today. can i change my vote on the middle one? clicked the wrong one by mistake xD

I've been working on a huddy drawing, based on some fic, so I definitely want some art challenges, I also have like... 3 other drawings right now too though, not huddy ones though, so I just need more time in my life :P ~or the willpower to stop procrastinating~ lol

Oooh, art challenges, yes!

I tell you, I am so un-artistic that I can't make a scribble look like a scribble, but if I could, baby - I would be drawing H/C NON-STOP. I'd be making art, I'd be illustrating fic, I'd be drawing cartoon strips with the storylines *I* want to see....

I mean, where else do you get to make your favorite toys do *exactly* what you want them to do??

lol, i used to be the same way. I was drawing things that resembled a 3 year olds drawings up til i was 14. and then i started drawing half way decent, lol, very suddenly. still don't quite get it, so i still like to practice as much as i can ♥ it's relaxing ^^

where else do you get to make your favorite toys do *exactly* what you want them to do?? oh i know xD haha, though, with my last one I do believe I scandalized myself! xD a thrill though x ( ... )

LJ IS SUCH A SLUT RN, OMG.

I really want to push the art thing. I'm glad to see that so many people are writing good fic, but I've always been really into more visual art. It occurs to me that it's October and october_october usually does an art calendar, I just couldn't think of anyone there who's still actively making graphics. Let's try to brainstorm some activities here - collage prompts, graphic alphabet games, episode retrospectives in visual form, etc.

I have a wait and see approach to this season. Episode 1 was relatively painless, but the prison setting made it easier to digest. I'm absolutely dying to see how Shore and co. handle Cuddy's departure (I guess we'll know soon enough, huh?). If I feel it's respectful to me as a fan, Cuddy as character, and LE as an actress, it'll go a long way toward my feeling better about the show.

As for this community, I love hanging out with all you lovely kindred spirits, so count me in as a (tentative) yes for all of the fun times mentioned above . . .
(Thanks mods!)
