As has been hinted at in a post by
angel_2606 a couple of days ago, we've been planning to organize something in order to keep us all busy until the season 7 premiere. Today is the day we start the first one; the Prompting Fest. This little party will take place entirely within this community; any other games/memes will be taken to a different community, modded by
angel_2606 herself. She'll give you guys the run down on that later.
So here's how this game is going to work: everybody may enter prompts in the comments below (more info on the format &c later) and anyone can respond to the given prompts by simply replying to the comment with a fic, vid or any type of art you can think of, digital and by hand. Easy, right? The Prompting Fest officially ends on September 19, 2010, a day before season 7 kicks off, because I'm pretty certain we're all gonna need at least 24 hours to mentally prepare ourselves for what's coming our way this year. If this game turns out to be a success, there's big chance we'll do the same during the winter hiatus come December/January.
Detailed guidelines follow - please read them carefully! How to leave prompts:
→ First off, if you're posting prompts, at least try to answer a couple too! If we're all going to post prompts and do nothing more, the fun will be over way too soon.
→ Comment with a word, sentence, song, quote, piece of lyric or an image. One prompt per comment. You can comment as many times as you want with different prompts. I would recommend doing this; the more prompts you post, the bigger the chance that you get a response!
→ If you're prompting with a song, it is recommended to include a YouTube link (no embedding!).
→ Picture prompts may be included in your comment, granted the image is under 600x600 pixels. If it's larger, you may post a thumbnail or a link.
→ This is not a request post, which means you can't for example specifically ask for a video to go with your prompt. Whether your prompt gets answered by a story, a video or some other type of art is completely up to the person responding.
→ Important: if you wish to remain spoiler free or absolutely don't want to read or see anything rated R or above, say so in the subject line of your comment. Just put "spoiler-free" and/or "no rating r+" in there so that the person answering your prompt can take it into account. If you neglect this part, I can't guarantee a smutless, spoiler-free response. Please don't put anything else in the subject line! The notes on spoilers or rating will catch people's eye sooner that way.
How to answer prompts:
→ Simply reply to the comment with your fic/vid/art. You are free to answer as many prompts you want. Don't worry if that one prompt that inspires you has already been answered by someone else; prompts may be answered more than once.
→ The same rule for images applies when it comes to answering prompts: no images over 600x600 pixels. Video responses, however, may be embedded.
→ The minimum word count for fic is 100 (a drabble); there is no maximum. If your story doesn't fit in one comment, don't post multiple comments. Post the whole thing to your own journal, and reply to the prompt with a fragment of the story and include a link to the rest.
→ The response you post is your work and thus may be posted wherever else you want.
That's it. Please, please, please follow the guidelines. If you don't, I'll have to remove your comment and I really don't want to do that. Because this is ~version 1.0~ the guidelines may be subject to change somewhere along the line. If it happens, I'll put it in red font to make sure it catches your eye. Let's just see how it goes for now! As of right now, the Prompting Fest is ongoing so you can start posting/answering prompts below! To keep yourself up to date on the comments of this post, you can track it by clicking on the push-pin button in the small blue bar at the top center of this page. Have fun!!
