I wish to apologise in advance for forgetting birthdays, social engagements, meal times, names and basic numeracy and literacy skills in the upcoming weeks and maybe months. Multitasking, bullshit. I will dispute that female stereotype until the end of my days. I have been forgetting students' lessons, and things that i said i'd do for them.

I meant to say some things on your other posts along the lines of:
Kickass was amazing, and it's good to have a female character that is kicking ass (yes yes moar River Tam pls) but it didn't pass either of my Feminist Movie Tests. (The first one being: did one female character talk to another female character about something that was not a boy? No.* and the second one has to do with Propp's character 'spheres of action',(sort of)- Hit Girl was still the one being rescued at the climax of the movie) I'm not saying either of these things were offensive or anything, just that the movie did not pass for me, quantitatively, on that front.
Umm, the second thing was about very caucasian looking Bollywood stars. I know what the hell right? On a related note, how weird is this ad?
...That is all ( ... )

That's a good point about the female movie cliches. I don't think there were any scenes where girls talked to girls about not-boys. Although i felt like the rescuing of Hit Girl at the end of the movie was a necessary device - it made Kick Ass and Hit Girl into equals, whereas before that Hit Girl had the upper hand in every scene. I don't think it was a negative female portrayal, and after that part the two characters related to each other as a team rather than a leader - sidekick (oddly to me it seemed like Kick Ass was a sidekick throughout the entire movie, save for when he was alone). Plus she went straight back to kicking butt afterwards.
I am going to try to be at uni all day tomorrow. Maybe we could have lunch? I can come up to the library or you can come down to my art hood!
