Okay, that's cool with me, but don't come complaining to me about beer and things.
Wow, that's special. I even go to a similar church type (we generally don't touch alcohol either) but I'd never dream of complaining if hotel guests were drinking, much less yelling at them that they're going to hell for doing so. Drinking is their choice and it's not my place to say where anyone will end up in eternity (cause yanno, I can't predict the future LoL). People like that are the ones who give Christianity a bad reputation. :/
While nowhere near this bad, I sympathize. I had to deal with the "omg THAT person got 60% off last night because he complained. *I* want 60% off MY stay"-fest of 2010. I'm currently about two glasses of wine into my "drink till I remember why I want to make this my career" marathon.
I'm half a pint into the "WHY do I want to be in hotel management" festival of...well, this week, I suppose. I'm thinking about killing off the whiskey and moving to the tequila; at the same time, I may send resumes elsewhere. I love my management, I love my property--and our DoS is crap. I'm in line for AGM and/or DoS shortly. Perhaps I could stick it out and drink for a while...
Regarding the coffee makers, we have the one-cup ones, too. Former GM said she did that because it's more sanitary than the carafes, which is really true since you can't trust all housekeepers to do their jobs right. You get what you pay for. Anywho, we don't have nifty little signs, but there are instructions on the coffee packets. I keep suggesting that HK put a cup in them, still in the plastic, so guests get the idea, but it just never caught on. Ah, well.

about drinking (I don't) but I do agree that the sales department should use their brain when planning events and consider who is in house (same goes for all groups)
