so it's absolutely SWELTERING in here....i radioed our maintenance department, who said there's nothing they could do to lower the thermostat....because, the GUARD BOX is broken so no one can get into it and change the temp. I'm basically alone at the FD, and to top it all off, one of the brownies that we offer at the front desk didn't sit well

First of all, your icon, it is amazing.

You're having the opposite problem we're having. The lobby + open area of FD is freezing and you can feel the change in temp. once you reach the hall. We change the temperature and it stays cold no matter what and the heater in the back, does not reach the front at all.

Can't you call someone if you've gotten sick on shift so you can leave? If not, that's awful. D:
I hope they get your heat system fixed soon.

i suppose i could have called someone else for coverage, only problem is, I'm "on call", so I need the money, and i was already covering for someone else :)

honestly, i'd rather be too cold, at least your can put a jacket on (except that our GM doesn't like us wearing them, it "obscures" our uniforms)

if you're too hot, there's not much one can take off (at work, haha)
