What a great chapter! I love Finch's relationship with Nathan and Will. I also loved the begining with Finch taking care of Will as a baby. It was so adorable watching him take care of Lelia in Baby Blue so I would love to see that flashback somehow play out on the show.
You've really captured Root's character very well. She seems like the type that would use emotional torture rather than physical violence to get what she wants.
And I'm probably looking too much into this but I immediatley thought of Lost when you mentioned Harper and the grilled cheese sandwich. And now I'm off to make a grilled cheese sandwich because that sounds so delicious.
lol! I already had planned to mention Will, since, being the only family Finch has left it's pretty obvious he would think of him now, but I really hadn't thought about doing it this way :P
I'm really glad you think Root is in character! It's a huge relief with a character we pretty much don't know anything about. Actually, my take on Root is pretty much resulting from an article, where Plageman and Nolan were asked what did Root wanted with Finch. Their answers give shape to the Root in my head, so I'm glad it's ringing true to you!

Oh my God! You noticed the two Lost references I put in this chapter. I can't believe it! Over at fanfiction.net, I offered to write a fic to whoever guessed both and nobody had done it! One of them guessed the Harper one and some mentioned they had one, but didn't said which. I'm impressed :O

Aw man, I always review your stories over here. I have a fanfiction account but I don't get on it very often anymore because after I started school I just didn't have time and now I've got writers block for most of my stories that aren't completed. :/ Will it still count if I write a review over at fanfiction.net?

Grilled cheese sandwich cut in halves, eh? With toothpicks, I gather? (I admit, even though this was a Very Dramatic Chapter, that had me giggling madly. And if it's not a Lost ref, please disregard.)
Nice ratcheting up of the tension, and I like how you left yourself with enough breathing room that the premier did not entirely Joss you. I hope you'll finish this, though I would understand if the spark is out of it.
Again, I can hear the actors' voices saying this dialogue -- excellent work on capturing their metaphorical voice.
Nope, Root kept the toothpicks far away from Finch, with John as his partner, he could have used them as a weapon for all she knew! And it totally was a Lost reference, along with the name of Nathan's wife (since it's the name of the wife of Brett Cullen's character on Lost, the same actor who plays Nathan) What can I say? I'm a obsessed with Lost :P
