Nolan Home for Wayward Refugees, 33 Apocalypse, Saturday Morning

Mar 31, 2012 10:14

Ronan knew full well what day it was. In fact, he'd made sure to get up early and start cooking, just in case. Hey, if he didn't have any kids show up, he could always share the food with kids of people who had.

Anyone walking by 33 Apocalypse on Saturday morning, though, would see a new sign affixed near the front door:

One minute, she'd been sleeping off prom, the next... she'd been dumped rather unceremoniously (she thought) in the middle of the park.

Ugh, great. That meant she'd have to go all the way back to the dorms and, well. Silly island had a habit of getting all twisty-curvy on her sometimes.

(No, it didn't. She just had a habit of getting a little bit lost.)

So it made perfect sense that this was the door she ended up standing in front of and giving a knock.

Trying to be a good helper, Victoria ran to answer the knock at the door.

"Bronwyn! Hi! Hi! Hi!"

A little younger than she was used to seeing her, sure, but there was no mistaking that energetic greeting. "Hey yourself, kiddo. This your house?"

"No silly! I live in San Francisco at the Manor. There was a portal," Victoria said in a tone that implied Bronwyn should understand about these things. "So I've visiting Uncle Ronan!"

Three little girls in one neat line, not bothering to knock or use the doorbell but use their own key.

"Dai stiho," Amélie chirped at the head of the batch as she kicked the door in, followed by Annika carrying an extra coffee for Ronan and Christiana twirling the keys. Wizards they were not, but it was only polite to greet someone in their own language. "Mind ringing mère? She's not answering us."

Ronan had a long moment to stare, eye the key, consider the greeting (and erroneously conclude that the girls were more of his), and go, "There are three of you?"

'Little' girls, indeed. There were a few of those around already; these young ladies did not qualify. ... They probably didn't qualify as ladies, either.

It took hardly any time at all to add attitude+hair and come up with, "I'll give Emma a call, but I think she's got midterms."

"We heaaaaaaaard that," one of them - Christiana - sang, tossing the keys on the nearest flat surface. "Amélie doesn't qualify, to be sure, but I'm the good one."

... And that was Ronan's cue to throw up his best and strongest shields. In case the girls were wondering why they were being unceremoniously thrown out of his head. (He hoped. Oh, Powers, he hoped.)

"And you would be?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "... And aren't you three a little old for the usual after-prom shenanigans?"
