"I have some absinthe," Jack announced, from the spot on the couch where he was sinking into a food coma. "Direct from Paris, 1902, if anyone's interested."

Ronan considered that for a moment. "What's the proper way?" he asked. "Pouring it over heated sugar, isn't it?"

"Pour it over sugar into water," Jack nodded. "There are special glasses for it, but I think anything you have would work."

Ronan nodded, getting up and heading back into the kitchen. "Scotch glasses should work," he suggested, calling over his shoulder as he went through the doorway. "Although -- careful with quantities, I believe, yes?"

"Right. We'll have to switch to something a little less potent if we want to have that drunken orgy," Jack called after him.

A couple of clinks as Ronan collects the glasses, and then, as he returns -- bowl of sugarcubes and pitcher of water following behind him in what's a rather blatant use of wizardry -- he retorts, "And here I was thinking to avoid the absinthe-fueled orgy."

He paused.

"Not that I'd object to an orgy with all of you, but I'd rather be in full, or at least almost full, control of my faculties at the time."

Jack smiled. "I think we'd all enjoy it more if we didn't think green fairies were about to attack us," he agreed. "But for tonight, just drinking should be enough."

"Now, orgies aside," Ronan said, "I... don't know that we've sorted out sleeping arrangements for the evening?"

"We didn't," Jack agreed, and studied Ronan over the rim of his glass with concern and amusement mingled in his expression. "Did you have a suggestion about them you wanted to share?"

His curse was too new for him to be comfortable with much more than flirting -- at least, until he knew for sure he couldn't infect his friends. But he wasn't about to give up the flirting.

"Mostly that you're welcome to sleep anywhere you're comfortable," Ronan assured him. "Whether the bed is otherwise occupied or not, and whether or not any other... activities... are on the menu."

What? Actually sleeping with someone was nice, too, and Ronan wanted to make sure that Jack knew he wasn't afraid of him, no matter what he might have become.

Jack smiled, more genuinely. "You're sweet. I'll figure it out after a little more absinthe."

Probably he'd still sleep alone, but it was nice to know he didn't have to.

Yeah, that's about what Ronan expected, really. He smiled back, reaching out to squeeze Jack's hand. "And, hey," he said, "when I say anywhere, I mean anywhere -- one of the beds, the couch, the bathtub, the floor, the roof..."

... Ronan occasionally failed at humour.

Jack squeezed back gratefully. "You'd have me sleep on the roof in January after a meal like this? Ronan, I know you're a good healer, but I'm not sure you want to test it on me again so soon."

Parker turned her head to look at him for this, interested. "Isn't that stuff toxic? Or is that just if you drink an entire glass?"

"I wouldn't make a habit of drowning myself in it," Jack said. (Actually, he wasn't sure how any alcohol would effect his new constitution, so he'd been careful even with the wine at dinner.) "But one drink, once in a while? It shouldn't do any harm."

And this is how peer pressure works.

Parker considered. "What the hell. I've never had that particular poison. I'll bring vodka with me next time... and if it's straight from 1902, it would be a crying shame to pass it up."
