Ronan greeted each of the Wayward Refugees at the door and then disappeared back into the kitchen, leaving them to their own devices -- but there were crackers with bruschetta to snack on in the mean time, and an interesting pomegranate soda to drink.

Jack filled a plate with crackers and bruschetta and took a seat near the wall. He didn't normally play the wallflower, but he hoped he'd be forgiven as one still recovering.

It would be interesting, seeing the others now that there was no immediate crisis. Well: None that hadn't been resolved.

"Jack!" Isabel smiled, once she'd deposited the dessert fixings in the kitchen and been subsequently chased out by Ronan. "How are you? How's your vampire? Everything back the way it's supposed to be?"

It wasn't Isabel's fault that there was the slightest shadow of a wince behind Jack's eyes before he answered.

"The world seems to be about the way it was before everything started," he smiled. "Sebastien, too. What about yours? I remember you were worried about your family."

Dinner: Appetizer hotceltogoth January 13 2012, 16:50:41 UTC
"Thank you for coming, everyone," Ronan said, smiling warmly, as he ushered them into the dining room. "I'm glad you all could make it. Isabel's the one who suggested dinner, so thank you, Isabel.

"Now, I hope you all enjoy!"

And with that, Ronan served the first course: Caesar salad with mushrooms and a homemade dressing, bacon and parmesan cheese served on the side for those who wanted them.

Jack sprinkled a little cheese over his salad and tucked in gratefully. Ronan, it must be said, was an excellent chef.

He smiled around the table, pleased to be among friends again.

Parker dug in with a will, and took a large glass of wine. She needed it.

After the salad, the next course was a soup -- and the replacement of the cream by coconut milk should not only make it kosher, but lend it an interestingly sweet flavour underneath the savory.

"Sweet, a little spicy. My favorite combination," Isabel grinned after the first taste.

Continuing the theme from the last course, dinner itself was a Thai green curry with chicken, served on a bed of fragrant Jasmine rice.

Despite the sheer amount of food Emma had already eaten, she tucked-in with a rather un-ladylike enthusiasm. "You are going to spoil me for dorm food forever, Mr. Nolan," she said eventually, helping herself to thirds - or was it fourths?

Look, she was a growing girl with a mutant metabolism. And she couldn't eat as much as she wanted at home, not without making people suspicious or breaking her bank account.

Dessert is being provided by Isabel -- so wait for her to ping in with it!

Fortunately it didn't take Isabel all that much time to get dessert ready thanks to some creative use of the alien-fu.

There were small cups of spicy Mexican hot chocolate to drink. For nibbling there was a decadent pot of melted chocolate with an assortment of completely moddable sweet and savory bites for dipping.

"I was going to make some elaborate chocolate creation. But sometimes I think simpler is better."

Ronan grinned across the table. "Somehow I think we'll survive with this," he said, grabbing a strawberry half and dipping it in. "I swear, you probably could have laid a slab of chocolate in front of me and I'd be happy with it."

"I'll make a note of it," she laughed. "Easily bought off with a bar of Vosges."
