Isabel was still tense as all hell but it felt good to finally have something concrete to do. Even if all that was at the moment was sitting at the table and bouncing ideas back and forth.
"So the fight to save the universe is going wind up being a carnival game?"
"Hey, at this point I'm ready to try anything. We could attack them with hummus, even."
Ronan grinned -- well, maybe not grinned, but it was probably his first actual honest smile in a week. "I was thinking cupcakes, too. If I can remember how I used to delay the explosion."
"I remember a story about someone defending the dorms with ramen noodles when snow monsters attacked my first semester here," Isabel replied with a small smile of her own. "Hummus would make a weird kind of sense."
"But exploding cupcakes? They don't. What is it? Sort of like IEDs except with buttercream?"
