Cosplay newbie requests bro/protips

OK, so, basically, I would like to go to Otakon this year. And while I'm at it, I'd like to try cosplaying. Just to see what it's like, pretty much. I doubt it'll be any sort of regular hobby of mine for two reasons: 1. fuck sewing, and 2. jesus christ this shit be expensive.

It looks like a good choice for a first cosplay! It should be a healthy challenge while still being fairly easy to put together. (In cosplay, things tend to be harder than they look. Very rarely, and benevolently, it's the opposite!)

You are right about the ponytail. Pulling up a wig and "stubbing" it and adding a ponytail is the other solution, but it's wayyy more trouble. Uhh just note that neither of those ponytails come in any unnatural colors, so you'd have to dye them if so (and if you do that, I'd dye the base wig as well so that they match). Although actually, you might have to dye it anyway because it looks like a pretty dark shade of pink (?) that's harder to find in wigs. The D.Boy looks fine as long as you're not trying to recreate that super volume she has going on in the bangs. For Cosworx wigs, this thread is pretty much the most amazing thing ever. I'd also suggest hunting around eBay a bit for wigs as they have a lot of nice clip on ponytails. Normally I'd offer to help look but I'm a little

Of course we actually used to get conventions so the old man in my day routine doesn't really work at all.
