“You look like a girl,” Ryo says. Ueda doesn’t answer right away; he watches the lights change on the white wall facing him, his head resting against the back of the couch. The silence is tense and peaceful at the same time.
“Thanks.”
“Ueda, you’re so inconsistent. Your face looks like a girl’s but the rest of you is all man.”
“I know.”
Ryo’s shirt is in the next room, his pants are unbuttoned, his belt buckle unfastened and hanging limply at the front of his jeans. His eyes are dark with fatigue, matching Ueda’s, shadows dancing across their skin. Ryo walks in front of the older man and warm fingers grip his wrist, both tight and gentle. “Hey,” Ueda says, and their eyes meet. They are two separate individuals, both so different and so frighteningly similar. The words merge together when he speaks, slurred by sleep. “Come here.”
Ueda feels Ryo’s body weigh the couch down as he drops beside him, their knees touching and his bare shoulder resting against Ueda’s chest, warm and heavy. They breathe in the scent of each other’s skin, intoxicated, the scent making the inside of their nostrils prickle. The smell of mixed perfume is too strong and too faint. “I-“, Ryo begins, but Ueda’s sigh cuts him off.
“Let’s not speak.”
Ryo nods and rests his nose in the crook of Ueda’s neck and it is warm there, warm and safe. The rough hand still hasn’t let go of his wrist, every angle awkward and slightly painful, but they don’t move. Ueda closes his eyes and lets Ryo kiss him, shadows moving and lights changing behind his eyelids.
