I definetely support that you indulge your Lombax OCs after all, although you said in the beginning you would wait what ACIT would bring. ^_^

Ziggy is a interesting character. I can't say much about him yet, but he intrigues me. Maybe because he reminds me of myself when my mind has nothing else to do and wanders to the darker corners in itself. His wife Amanda must have died horribly during Tachyon's attack on Fastoon (at least I assume it was this date), not to forget how much he seems to have loved her and that she was pregnant - the way he thinks about her sounds obsessive.

I wonder how Ziggy would react and interact with Ratchet if he ever met him. Because if Amanda was pregnant during the attack on Fastoon, their baby now would be nearly as old as Ratchet. And then there's the fact he defeated the very person being responsible for Ziggy's wife's death...

Sorry about the last part of my review. This was only a minor thing and I probably overdid it with my analysis. So again, sorry if this was too much.

I do see occasional typos, albeit probably things you didn't see for whatever reason. I won't bother to point them out unless you desire so.

Those aside, this truly is a short story with characters that have depth, meaning, and background; characters that are believable and complex in an interesting way. I found the characterization and imagery to be my favorite parts, with a healthy mix of thought process and dialog. I really do like your writing, Kitty. This is good work.
