Governments fall.
Whole civilizations turn to the streets in fear.
Word.
Counter word.
Image to dust.
Prisoners eaten by white hot ants.
There is no real reality.
Always create as many insoluble conflicts as possible and always aggravate existing conflicts.
Silence deployed.

Reality differs from person to person. It's what you choose to see, and make it be.

Good for you!

That's not a new idea thing, for my world.

Interesting. How long have they been controlling your world?

Oh, I mean that souls being consumed was not a new thing in my world. It is how balance between good and evil is maintained.

[ooc: Fff, just noticed the grammar fail in my previous comment, please excuse that. orz ]]

I see. Then it is different from our concept of destruction.

ooc: No worries. I am the queen of typos when I'm on my cellphone ;)

It would seem so. I don't think anything is ever truly destroyed; maybe it just takes up a different form.

That is the case normally. The soul breaks. Pieces go to heaven, pieces go to the land of the dead, one piece rots in the ground with the body. But the scientists in our world said no soul existed. That god, heaven and the land of the dead were mere imagination. It was more 'humane' they said.

And they created the position to prove it.

Hmm... that is troubling. Has anything been done to oppose them?

In my world, there are two (well, technically three) types of souls. Pure souls, and corrupt souls. Those that wish to become kishin- demon gods intent on spreading chaos and insanity- consume pure souls.
The meister/weapon teams of Shibusen, the school I run, hunt down those with corrupt souls- the weapons consume the corrupt souls to become more powerful, as well as to become a Death Scythe, once they've consumed ninety-nine corrupt souls, and a witch's soul.
Because there are always those wishing to become kishin, there must always be someone to oppose them, and keep the balance between good and evil intact, more or less.

There were some who tried. The Nova Police we called them. They were the direct opposition. But those who knew about them, worked together. Even the White Hunters and people like myself with our own goals did what we could to undermine them. But how do you fight an enemy that has infected every person on the planet? How do you fight an enemy that is yourself and how do you fight an enemy that is a foundation of everything sane you believe in? Every institute is corrupted by them, because they are inside every human, working against them.
We opposed them. And we lost.

I understand. We have those types of souls as well, but they are not categorized nor as organized as such. I would say what you call the Kishin are souls that have let memory and heart and the shadow take too much control. Or it is simply a greedy, ambitious Ren. I would need to study more to understand fully how it works.

It takes time, but it can be done, slowly and surely. Did you try again after losing, or...?

If you'd like to study souls more, we can discuss them whenever you'd like!

There was no point. There was nothing left to save. Literally. Nothing. All life that we hadn't managed to get off the planet was wiped out.

It is of interest me. I would like that.

That's terrible. I'm sorry.

Alright! What else would you like to know?

I'm sorry too.

For those of us who can't communicate with the parts of their soul we often say Rebirth is a better option than the land of dead, as Heaven is quite inaccessible. Your wisdom on the matter?

Hmm. Being unable to feel one's soul- lacking confidence in yourself- is the beginning of insanity, starting with fear. Letting fear consume you only plunges you further into insanity, until you lose yourself completely and go mad. Such is a sad fate.
This doesn't seem like what you were asking about, though.

When someone dies, if they had a pure soul, I collect it and protect it from those wishing to eat it, and it eventually becomes the soul of a child about to be born. If there is a Heaven, I don't know of it, seeing as I haven't died yet, and nobody who has died has come back from life, and has been able to tell me otherwise.

[ooc: Since the Soul Eater manga never really states what happens to pure souls after someone dies, and only implies that they are taken care of by Shinigami...I...had to come up with an explanation. D: ]

Hm. But I find most people are totally unaware of their souls. Most don't even truly believe they exist. I know the names of all 7 of my souls and how to communicate with them. Rather how not to be led astray by their whims. Fear for us, comes from the parasite living in our minds. But the results are the same. Fear leads to a need to control and oppress.

Anubis... does something like what you do. Souls then go on to Heaven, if they are judged worthy, of the land of the dead to wait re-birth. Interestingly enough, you may now say you have met one who has died, been to heaven, and come back.

We mastered that skill in our world. At least, those of us aware of our souls did. It was the only way we were able to fight as long as we did--bring back those we had lost. We were in such minority...

ooc:NP! I don't know the soul-eater universe. And I have to hash together enough of Nef's background that I can't point fingers at ANYONE. :)

Seven souls? How interesting! Where I'm from, everyone only has one. Ah, yes, belief is a very important thing. Sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes against it.
Exactly! And if you give in to that fear, nobody can save you from yourself.

Ahh, it's an honor. Second chances are rare. May I ask what Heaven was like?

Wouldn't bringing someone back from death be dangerous?

[ooc: Okay; I just wanted to be clear on that. I don't need/want anyone pointing fingers at me for taking liberties with something that isn't defined in canon. And when it comes to Shinigami, there are a lot of things left unsaid. orz ]
