Doing some housekeeping so I get the comment notifications. :)

Here's an updated FAQ page, taken and modified from angelic_bigbang.

General FAQs

1) What is a bigbang?
A bigbang is a mini novella, around 10k or 20k, written by people from different bandoms/fandoms. Writers, artists and mixers all sign up to have their work completed by specified dates and then everyone posts. Each piece of fiction has its own piece of art and soundtrack (mix). Artists and mixers claim the summary they want to work for at later dates.

Examples of other bigbangs: bandombigbang, angstbigbang, and gabriel_bigbang. There are many, many others hosted both on LiveJournal and Dreamwidth.

2) What is the theme of this particular bigbang?
Horror! All the scary stuff! :D

3) Who is running the show?
synnerxx took it over from slashxyouxup.

4) What are the ways to contact you?
PM me or comment on a post.

5) What happens if I miss a deadline?
You will have 24 hours to contact one us with a reason and then an additional 48 hours to turn in whatever is due. If you fail to do so, you will be disqualified.

6) Will you be archiving the Big Bang submissions anywhere?
There will be a Masterlist complied at the end of the challenge. Other than that, no additional archiving will be done.

Author FAQs

1) What is the minimum word count?
The minimum word count is 10,000 words. There is no upper limit though.

2) Can I sign up to be an artist and an author?
Yes, if you think you can handle it. There are four options for art that we will get to in the Artist FAQs.

3) Can I write an original fic, AU, crossover, fusion or RPF fic?
Yes, as long as horror is the main focus of your story. Originals, fanfiction, AUs, crossovers, fusions and RPF are all allowed.

5) If I finish it, can I submit a WIP I've been posting in my journal?
Yes, as long as you take the WIP down from wherever you are hosting it until the challenge ends.

6) Can I submit a sequel to a story I've already posted?
Yes, as long as the new story can stand on its own.

7) Can an author turn in more than one story?
Yes! Just note that you are going to be submitting more than one fic either in the sign up or a check in.

8) Can writers collaborate on a story?
Yes, and you can turn in more than one fic for a collaborate effort. You can also turn in a solo fic and a collaborate fic as well.

9) Is there a word limit for the first draft?
No, so long as there is a beginning, middle and ending and meets the 10,000 word minimum, there is no upper limit.

10) Can I post a soundtrack for my story?
Yes, but any cover art must come from your artist at least until the challenge is over.

11) Can I post art that I or someone other than my artist has done when I post my story?
No, not until the posting round is finished. The point is for the writer and the artist to collaborate.

12) Can I give my artist direction on the art?
We encourage discussion between the author and the artist, but the final call on any art is ultimately up to the artist just as any final call on writing is ultimately up the author. The author can request things like icons and banners to go with their posts, but the artist is free to decline to make them.

12) Can I turn in anything that's due before its deadline?
Sure! Just email us with whatever is due at synner23@gmail.com

13) I’d rather f-lock my big bang story. Can I?
No. The point is to share your stories. They must be posted unlocked and remain so for the masterlist.

14) Can I do a remix of another person's story if it hasn't been posted before, won't be a WIP, etc.?
No, the story needs to be original to you.

15) Am I required to use one of the cheerleaders/betas from the sign-ups here?
No. If you have your own, that's fine with us.

Artist FAQs

1) Can an artist do more than one piece of art?
An artist can do as many pieces of art for their story as they want.

2) Is there a size limit on art?
No, as long as it meets the minimum requirements and you can host it on your livejournal or website, there is no limit.

3) Do fan mixes count as art?
As long as the cover art meets the minimum requirements, yes.

4) I'm not going to be able to complete my art in time. What do I do?
Contact the mods as soon as you realise that you cannot complete the requirements, so we can assign a pinch-hitter.

5) You said there are four options for art. What are they?
-You sign up as just a writer and sumbit a summary for claiming and an artist will pick you and create art for your story.
-You can opt out of art completely.
-You can opt out of art and create your own. You don't have to sign up as an artist to do this, but we would like to know if you choose this option.
-You sign up as an author and an artist. Write a fic and have someone else create art for it while you create art for another story that you claimed.

All the rules and requirements can be found on the sign ups post. If you have a question, comment, concern and it hasn't been addressed here, please leave a comment on this post or PM me. Thanks!
