prom dresses.

Alice in Wonderland was SO GOOD.

Anyways, with only three months left of high school, and two until prom, I need to start thinking about my dress. I'm definitely making it myself (it'll probably cost me $80 and five or six sewing hours, versus $200+ and five or six hours of trying on dresses and avoiding ugly Disney princess prom dresses -- I looked ( Read more... )

I love, love, LOVE that white infinity dress! It would look absolutely beautiful on you in a light, pearly-ish gray! Plus you could always take the skirt up after prom it it would be an adorable little summery dress that you could wear all the time :P So basically, considering how obviously talented you are with the whole sewing thing, I personally think you should go with that one :P In fact, I think you've inspired me to try and make my own!

I do also like the pattern you posted, though I agree with you about the back... would there be any way to alter the pattern so the back was either solid up until that point, or totally backless? It's also quite pretty!

The Von Maur dress is also totally adorable, but price tag pain sucks >.< If it helps, I can Paypal you $50 or so to start your "dress fund" :P

I think you've made a good start! And, as always, I am excited to see what you come up with and am totally jealous of your sewing talent ;)

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of the infinity dress. I feel like it looks incredibly complex while the dress itself is actually absurdly simple to sew (a skirt and two 90" rectangles as straps, pretty much -- hemming the straps will be a total bitch with over 30' of hemming but oh well). Perhaps I'll make one sometime soon as a trial run to see if I like it. Good luck with your own ( ... )
