I posted about this
last week, but I still don't know what to do.
Opie's headstone arrived. And it was wrong. And I can't decide if I should go through the hassle of getting it fixed. The pros and cons:
- I feel bad that there has been so much hassle around this already
+ All of it was *their* fault, none of it was mine
- The way the headstones are set into the ground, the grass is probably going to grow around the margins anyway.
+ It's not what I wanted or what I ordered.
- Ordering a new stone is going to delay this process even further.
- Ordering a new stone will (presumably) cost The Animal Rescue League money.
When I called today, the woman I spoke with *clearly* didn't want to deal with the hassle of reordering the stone. She was apparently the one who wrote the plot number on the order form (in a different handwriting, with a different pen than the rest of the form), and said that it was not uncommon for her to do that. I guess the guy (Rob) who took my order simply left "line 3" (the line where the plot number would go) blank, thinking that that would, you know, leave it blank. She (no clue what her name is), seeing it was blank, "helpfully" wrote the plot number in, which is how it ended up being on the order. She said if I had really not wanted the plot number, then the guy, Rob, needed to have left a note specifically explaining that.
Um, OK, great. How is this my fault?
The current stone is OK, but it bugs me that I was specifically asked if I wanted the number on there, and I said no, and then it still got printed on there anyway. So here it is, because I'm shit at making my own decisions:
