The press release said that Lex is 21 in S1. I don't think they've ever really said his age anywhere on the show. But wouldn't he have to hold some kind of office before running for president?

No, he's not required to hold any previous office. It's unlikely that anyone would get elected if they hadn't, but it's not a requirement. Still, it would be a pretty bad bit of writing if the SV writers didn't make the situation somewhat plausible.

Lex explicitly stated that he was nine when the meteors hit and he lost his hair. That was 1989, therefore he is only one year older than me, making him 27/28 by this season.

YES! That was where I got the age. I knew I'd heard it somewhere! Thank you!

I wouldn't think too hard about the age for presidency thing. They don't seem to do much research when they bring in reality based plot points. With the other news about Lex's sidekick being pretty evil, I wonder if this means he will have a nasty VP.

I know they don't do much research, but that honestly shouldn't even require research. It's a pretty well-known fact. *sigh* I WANT THINGS TO MAKE SENSE AGAIN ON SMALLVILLE!

If things made sense, Clark would be Lex's boytoy. *sigh*

Hee! I can't imagine that the writers or TPTB remember anything about what they set up in S1. :(

Still, that's a pretty big age jump, even for the writers.

They're just rewriting the US Constitution . . . cause, of course, that's better than giving Lex some other job LOL

Haha! :P That must be it, right? Well-known laws and basic knowledge about government have no place in Smallville. It's perfectly all right for them to just disregard the Constitution. *sigh* At least the absurdity of it is kind of funny...
