Werewolves!
But 'Turn to page 394' is a cult line in the third HP film.

The best cult line is "Fighting like an old married couple", but then I like R/S. *G*

Oh goodness, so much love! His expression and pose are fantastic and I, too, love the smoke.

Thanks! (However, I must admit I used photo reference for the pose. I'm not THAT good. Yet. ^^ )

Very nice pose. Everyone is right, he does look very masculine, and a bit irritated at having his picture taken. He also looks exactly like Thewlis!Lupin. I'm curious about your choice of heavily outlining the clothes and figure, and your use of harsh primary colors, when the near background uses no outlines at all, and uses very misty, grayed purple?

You are right, he does look like Thewlis!Lupin. I'm rather frustrated about that, by the way: when I first read PoA, I imagined him differently. When I saw the film, I replaced that image with Thewlis!Lupin, and now I can't remember MY Lupin's face anymore.
About the background: at first, this drawing was a watercolor painting (and an awful one, at that) without harsh lines, but with bright colors. It WAS awful, especially because the colorful background caught the attention more that the central character. That's why I reinforced the lines, in an attempt to make the foreground stand out. I thought it worked, but still was awful. So I scanned it and used it for coloring trials. For this, I turned it in black an white - and the outlines got even darker.
I left it that way, because I wanted the drawing to have different stages of coloring: the background in monochrome, flat colors for the clothes, some shading for the bench, and, for the skin and hair, 'finished' coloring- over the lines.
I hope that answers your question! ^^

Sorry! I thought drawing him to look like Thewlis was a deliberate act on your part, and I meant that in a good way! I've liked Thewlis ever since I saw him in "Prime Suspect 3" as Jimmy Johnson. (1993, I think.) He's not handsome, but there is something about him that works. Thewlis looks more like Remus when he's young. You might look at his photos from one of his early movies, "A Bit of a Do". He looks very young, skinny and sweet. In fact, he looks more like Lupin as himself than he did made up to look like Lupin. Anyway, I didn't think it was a bad thing.

Thanks for answering my question. I thought the background looked a lot like a Japanese/Chinese watercolor, and the foreground was very Western. It's not a combination you see very often, so I thought there was a story behind it. It's always interesting to see how other artists think and create.

Lol! I wasn't miffed, don't worry. The ressemblance WAS intended, I was just bemoaning the fact that now I just can't imagine him otherwise, while I would have liked him to be more... personal.
I quite agree with you about Thewlis's charm, though. I think he is just a bit too old for the part. But then, Rickman too.
