Hope, you always manage to tap into an emotional core when you write and this is another gorgeous example. I'm impressed with all the ways you wove blood-red into the story. Just stunned. I didn't think I could be anymore impressed and then you ended with this--

"Blood leaves its own undeniable marks, binding one generation to another with no reprieve, but Love stains just as deeply, choosing two souls to unite into one life."

OMG! You do character motivations and emotions and happy endings so well. *stands and applauds*

To be fair, I never did say explicitly that he was in his dress blues, just that he was in his uniform. =)
