You know what. I hate going into comic shops and finding kids reading manga/comics/books that they have no intention of buying. I know it's part of the geek culture that you can, and some stores actively encourage it so that you get a better feeling for the 'community' which is great. What better way to accidently meet a fellow fan (in person) then ( Read more... )

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!!!! Seriously, I'm completely on your side with this one. (Of course it doesn't help when I know a lot of my friends/acquaintances do exactly this. I give lots of lectures. ^^; )

I guess it just really bugs me that people really do have the attitudes listed above. I feel so bad for the companies now-a-days because of this market they need to deal with.

I will admit that I do sometimes read the book in the store, but that's only if I'm waiting on my sisters to finish shopping and I have every intention of buying the book I'm flipping through. And normally, my conscience is so powerful, I pay for it before I can even allow myself to read it. And I'm not sitting right in front of the bookshelves blocking other customers either.

So, it makes me happy to see I'm not the only bothered by your addressed issue.

Mwah...I'm guilty of doing this (although I won't plonk down in front of the shelves, at least). I don't do it with stuff I want, though (I grab those and go). I only do it with stuff that I want to find out about (like "hmm...is this worth my $10?"). But I have seen those kids you talk about...that is annoying. They have no intentions of buying the book in the first place. Damn whippersnappers!
