NO STINGING JELLYFISH LAKE = MY NARNIA eurekalujah December 8 2008, 20:30:02 UTC
Have you heard of this place?

The footage is from "The Living Sea," which I've been repeat-viewing for over a decade now. I watch it when I'm stressed, lol. So sooooothing. I was a sea creature in another life.

I love your holiday wrap-up. You took beautiful pictures! I would have been too scared to give the fortune-telling pirate any money; reminds me too much of Big. And the Justin Timberlake thing is true!

Also, I have to ask, seriously, what are the odds that I'd find a video incorporating jellyfish and Radiohead? I WANT PRIZES! :)

It's so pretty! Wah, now I'm homesick.

The rays are actually rather friendly if you happen to go at a time when no children have been grabbing them for a while (so, like 6am 1 day per year). They'll come up and bump against your hand. It's kind of cute really. Or maybe I just went when they were younger and dumber. How long do they live anyway?

i don't know how long they live - i assume not that long.

i imagine they get violently grabbed a lot, so i can't blame them for wanting to stay out of the way. they feel cool and sort of leathery.

They remind me of mushrooms.

Those things on the beach look just like moon jellies. You can pick them up -- the sting doesn't hurt. They're all over the place at Daytona Beach in Florida. When they lay out on the sand and under the blazing sun for awhile they get a lot harder and look a lot less organic.

yeah, we were wondering if they were jellyfish, but they were such hard little lumps, it was impossible to tell.

on our honeymoon we went to the aquarium in Newport. I took 10 thousand pictures of jellyfish. None were as good as yours.
