I get you. My mom and I only get along when we rarely see each other. But she kept trying to come over anyway. So I now have 3 cats. She's allergic to them. I'm mean.
Ahaha! I think it's common for people to swear never to grow up like their parents and then find themselves saying things they remember their parents saying years earlier D:
They sound amusing though, from an outsider's perspective :D I'm sure it'd be less amusing if they were my parents!
your parents sound like interesting characters. i'm the same way with calling my dad, i can only do it every couple weeks or so...otherwise he pulls me into his personal bullshit(he has relationship issues with women). it's funny & draining how everytime we talk it turns into everything about his life! i can already see my dad turning into a little kid, it's weird!
i fear the same thing...taking care of my dad when he's old will be weird and even weider because it's not that far away. there's no way in hell i will put him in a home though, because they are depressing and i'd rather kill myself than be placed in one. it's hard watching people grow old.
i think the fact that you are actively thinking about whether or not you will turn into your parents means that you probably won't! but i guess we'll have to see :) i guess i'll still love you even if you tell me how to wash my dishes, lol!
thank god i don't have to listen to my parents' "relationship issues." i don't think i could deal with that.
i mostly fear that since my parents did everything in their power to make my life be easy and sweet that i'm not tough enough to take care of them when they need it. and yeah, i'm not putting them in a home. no way. they've been good about saving up for retirement so hopefully that will be enough to carry them through. they want to move to the ocean and retire there.

your parents sound like your home would never be boring :). My parents are so...dry. Even if I called my mother every day and whatnot, I would hang up within three minutes because she's like a broken record XD. The last thing I want to be is smothered by my parents :O
