Title: the sky above, the field below Characters: Tim (mentions Coach, Billy, Jay) Rating: PG Summary: Following Tim getting kicked out of the Taylor's house.
This was really, really well done. Poor, poor Tim. This is why he is my favorite character. He gets knocked down over and over and over, and just keeps on getting back up and moving forward. Bless him.
Thanks for sharing this--even if you did make me want to cry. *G*
Wow...there are so many heartbreaking details to this, and it's just gorgeous in that Tim stream of consciousness kind of way.
The first few times Coach called him son, close and careful, Tim thought Jason musta been there standing next to him and Tim'd just accidentally got in the way.
Delurking to say that I really enjoyed this, and I hope you write more introspective pieces--you nailed Tim. I loved the last section especially. Thanks so much!
Just recently got into FNL fanfic. Of course Tim is my fav character. You have hit on so many of the thoughts I had, plus a few more, about Tim and how he pretty much has to take care of himself. Everyone expects the worst of him. He's basically an orphan. He goes to Mexico for Street, gets kicked off the team, Street gets back in. Billy messes with his ex, that's a no no. He saves Julie during the tornado and from Riley and gets kicked out of the Taylor home over an omission. But like your last line stated:
Sky's too big above him. Ground's hard below. He gets back up.

Exactly. No matter what, in his own way, Tim keeps getting back up.
