Reading this again -- it is still just as much of a punch to the gut as the first time... Neal's desperation is so palpable and by the end... gah!

My favorite line I think is he has no part of him he hasn't given already but empty pleas are better than none at all

I was so happy to read that the coda has grown to be it's own fic :D I can't wait to see what you did with them after this since it's such a bleak and painful place it ends in. (I feel bad for Peter too because his own horror shows through even from Neal's limited pov)

The first thing that strikes me about this story is how unvarnished the sex is. It's so visually clear that reading it is akin to watching a pornographic movie, one that turns you on but at the same time makes you feel ashamed because Neal's desperation is so overwhelming. He's consenting so hard that he's completely ignoring his own needs and desires. Peter never asked for that, and I have to wonder why Neal feels the need to give it.

You make that so real it hurts. This is a fine and emotionally dense piece of work. You don't pull any punches, and it's so true to the way sex can be when one partner has so much more power in the relationship than the the other.

Very well written and honest story.
