Well, I wake up with holosync, replacing my last hour of sleep with that, using Sony monitor headphones to make sure I get the carrier frequency.

I use google calendar with the SMS option to keep my phone buzzzing 20 minutes before appointments, and use the SMS option to wake me up if I need to be up before I naturally wake up to the holosync.

Mornings I generally open my laptop that's been on all night, log into my favorite places and start chatting while my tea is brewing.

I generally use SMS to connect with friends and family for brief messages.

I have yet to move towards a device that integrates phone and internet because I'm already frustrated enough trying to type SMS messages that I don't want chat/email on tiny devices. I hate small keyboards, and I have tiny hands!

Best keyboard ever was the old iron IBM keyboard with clicky springloaded keys. But I digress.

My days vary, so I'm going to go with a day where I work both of my jobs. Job 1 is as a therapist at a place I can't mention here, job 2 is doing community mental health ( ... )

oh, also, I've downloaded a few ring tones, but it's been ages. I don't download anything else or use any of the other internet features on my phone.

I wake up and stumble into my office/studio where I check email first thing and then see what's going on with my F-list on Live Journal. I have to have my morning exercise, so generally I'll see what's new on iTunes to see if anything would be good to purchase which might help my workout. If there's something good, I'll buy that and then download it to my iPod to take with me. I take my phone on my morning jaunt, just in case I hit a curb wrong and wind up breaking my neck or something. I check my voicemail when I open my phone, because I'm a compulsive voicemail checker ( ... )

Hey Rob, thanks for providing all this detail, it was really interesting to read.
I have a question regarding the notepad option on your cellphone: how often do you use it during the day? Do you ever synch it with your desktop notepad? How often do you retreieve notes you've taken on your cellphone notepad?

When I was doing the real estate thing I was using it semi-constantly to keep track of important phone numbers, key codes for lock boxes and so on. I would say upwards of ten times a day. Now, because I'm in a somewhat rarified circumstance temporarily (working from home, not going to grad. school and with very few friends here/social contact) I use it around three times a day when I'm running around outside the house, to jot down notes and contact information for people, galleries, art show info. When we move back to the SF Bay area and I go back to grad. school I know that I'll be using it semi-constantly again ( ... )

When you jot down those notes, doesn't it annoy you? I know that I would get impatient with it (which is why I just use my hand or an actual notepad) - keying long ideas, addresses and such into a keypad always makes me grumble.

Thanks for your reply! Are you a graphic designer, or audio professional? How did you create and uploaded your own ringtones?
As for the Palm PDA - does it have internet connection or you have to synch it up with your desktop via cable? Can you tell me a bit more about how often and for what purposes are you using it? Thanks in advance!

My cheapo phone vibrates and rings as my alarm. I stay up late on the weekends and don't always get home, so a familiar sound is nice even if the surroundings are unfamiliar. It's cheap because I'm forgetful and I ride a motorcycle... if I lose it or fall on it, I can buy a new one for $30 and transfer the number. I haven't seen the light because I'm too poor to afford most data and roaming plans, and thanks to student loans, my credit is so bad that I can't get a cellphone contract.
I've had an Internet-enabled computer at home since 93. Most of my friends were met over this medium, so I can always socialize even if I don't want to go out; Even my jobs have been selected with freedom to surf in mind. I've just moved, and am earning a decent amount for once; I'm sure once I get disposable income I'll accumulate a pocket music gadget, organizer, and cell phone. Most likely, they'll be three devices that excel at their purpose rather than an all-in-one which does a mediocre job of all three.

Interesting. Doing some math; if you're a student now and have had internet since 93 you were really young when you started using the internet. How old were you?

Another question, what kind of music gadget/organizer/and cellphone are you planning to buy once your disposable income allows it?
