Pesky rabbits keep sneaking into the office. Not to worry. We called the exterminator.

Snippet- Dean with cerebral palsy coldneedles March 13 2015, 12:32:40 UTC
Sometimes people don’t understand Sam’s brother. Whoever he’s talking to will start looking shifty and smiling and nodding a lot and then answer a completely different question than the one Dean asked. They speak very loudly and very slowly, all the while shooting glances at Sam like he might be able to explain, as if Dean is no longer the older brother and Sam’s protector in all things. As if Dean wasn't the one to help Sam wash his hair in the shower and tilt his head so he doesn't get shampoo in his eyes, as if he didn't make Sam peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hold his hand when they cross roads and tell him where dad is (away on business) and when he’ll be back (soon) over and over again ( ... )

I really liked this! Disabled!Dean is definitely a love of mine, and I think it would be cool to see all the things about Dean that don't change, the things that really make him who he is, and also how other people react to him. We got a tantalizing little hint of that in this snippet, but I would love to see more.

Thanks, posting this has got my brain into gear for writing again, I start loads of stuff and never finish.

I think Dean's central struggle in this universe will to be to come to terms with who he really is and to not be defined by other people's contrasting images of him. Neither the loyal soldier and caregiver that can do anything John wants nor the totally helpless person that strangers assume he is based on how he moves and speaks.

...extremely right handed...

Lol, that is just SUCH a Dean thing to say :D

Also, Sam's reaction to the Texan woman is so perfect - the things kids notice but can't put into context :)

Not being a writer means I have no help to offer you other than cheering you on and hoping your muse gets back in touch with you eventually :)

*sigh*... I've lived in the same, boring, small-but-still-stuck-up-somehow town my whole life. Not a single urban legend to be found. A nice place to grow up in and all, but painfully boring. I'm not even sure my whole STATE has any unique urban legends... Of course, even if it did, it's not as fun to write about something you didn't grow up scared of, is it?

Maybe I should change that to "many". I guess it depends on how old your home is

Unfortunately, the stories I'm stuck in aren't SPN related. Well, one sort of is but not much.

Vaccines and the reason they are around.... ext_1258129 March 14 2015, 19:49:20 UTC
First: I am not a native English speaker.
Second: I am not a writer in any language.
But I still think and wonder and have a herd of plot bunnies running wild......

Last year I had the mumps. As an adult that can be really bad, but luckily I had been vaccinated, first as a baby/toddler and later when I was in 6th or 7th grade. But since my last shot had been more than 20 years earlier, i got ill but now as ill as I could have been. And now with measles outbreaks both in USA and Germany it got me thinking....

I guess Mary made sure her boys were vaccinated, but later things weren't that easy. I really doubt John kept up with things, with constant moving and money trouble. And after Dean's resurrection, with a Brand New body, his immune system must have been reset to infant level.

"Common" children's diseases can have serious results both for children and adults. And the more rare diseases like polio and tuberculosis are also possible culprits...
I must admit that I like permanent disabilities.
And I prefer gen.

Okay, it's going to be A While before I can get this idea written--partly because of RL, partly because it's something like the fourth story in the series and I want to write them in order if I can--but as part of a series of one-shot gapfillers for my Gwaith i Innas Lain SPN/Silmarillion crossover AU, I'm planning a story called "Cheeseburger in Paradise," where Celebrían and Elrond have a conversation about Dean as a starvation survivor. (It's set in Elvenhome, hence the title.) Now, on the Tolkien side of things, a friend of mine has written quite a bit on Frodo as a starvation survivor, so I do intend to consult with her. But do y'all have any suggestions as to how Dean's mealtime behavior would tip Elrond off? Menu items Dean would or wouldn't try, scarfing his food, making sure Sam's plate was full before filling his own, something else I haven't thought of?
