FILLED (sort of): Won't Cry Wolf, Dean/OMC, John, Sam, OCs, trigger warning for rape, part 1/?geckoholicApril 14 2013, 15:07:33 UTC
NOTES: So this finally tumbled out of my brain last night, and I don't really feel like going through the whole beta-and-editing dance with it so you're getting it in all it's raw glory, including typos, grammar snafus, first-draft-fuckups and summarized bits. Also, in the interest of full disclosure, it's technically unfinished, but I have no clue when or ~if I'm going to write the second part, partly because I have no idea who I want to pair him up with for the parts where he falls for [insert male canon chara here] and gets to work through his issues from this and have Sam gently explain to him that yes, indeed, it was something he's got the right to be traumatized by and... I'll stop here and just post.
Won't Cry Wolf; Dean/OMC, John, Sam, OCs, dub-con and non-con, all underage, 3k so far. (Also, I'd like it to be known that the management (aka me) very much ~doesn't agree with some of the opinions in both Dean's headspace and John's behavior
( ... )

Thank you! :) And I do really want to continue it (give the poor guy some comfort and closure for once, somewhere down the line -- after escalating things first, of course, ahem), but there's too many options swirling around in my head now as to where exactly I'll take it, gotta let that settle first. XD

Oh, Jesus Christ. This is amazing, and it hurts, and it's so fucking easy to see John believing--making himself believe--that it was consensual, because the alternative is intolerable.

Yeah, he probably wouldn't have to look too hard to figure out that Dean's bullshitting him, but I guess sometimes he'll resort to some sort of can't-happen-didn't-happen approach.

Jesus mother of---
This is fantastic, bb. It is everything that I find appealing about hooker!fic--that sort of consensual push and pull, that aspect of the clandestine, and we all know how well the Winchesters deal with the clandestine--taken to the next extreme. The sensitivity with which you are able to approach the subject here, without pandering to established notions of political correctness, or otherwise trite representations, is criminal. It is so, so good. And the way you've written Dean here is so very true to his character, in a way that I don't even think I can describe here.
This physically hurt me:
He's got no right to the nightmares, to the flinch when some guy pushes past him in a cramped diner the week after they left town, or to the cold sweat when another one winks at him in a bar later that month.
Ugh. Just fantastic work, bb. Far more than I was expecting out of a fairly low-key comment!meme, that's for sure, perhaps even out of just fiction in general, online or off, fan- or not.

Under no circumstances would I ever say no to Gecko writing ALL THE THINGS, haha, but I actually. Kind of like the unabashed irresolution with this one? I really liked the way that the fic didn't necessarily stop short of fallout, the insinuation of "comfort" (or like, a step one--the inability to keep hurt secret). If you don't have that component, then the hurt ends up just being kind of empty. It's what ended this fic that gave everything SO much dynamism. And while I certainly wouldn't mind reading the aftermath in greater detail, should Gecko see fit to write it, I actually really like how this works as is, structurally. It leaves off without leaving out. :)

By now I pretty much decided that I won't touch this one again. At least not in regards to rewrites or direct continuation. I do, however, have ideas for a follow-up or three. Like, I want to use the last scene as springing board to go into (unhealthy and destructive) promiscuity in response to sexual trauma, rather than the opposite, and then escalate that. OR SOMETHING. Nothing that picks the thread up directly, but references it as the cause.

I'm familiar with that interview. Still not entirely convinced he meant it exactly like the places fandom goes with it, but hey. Heh.
