FILLED Gray, light Dean/OMC 1/5bittermunchkinApril 15 2012, 19:25:54 UTC
The second time Dean wakes, a head of thick, dark hair is bent at the end of his bed taking notes. For a moment, of course he thinks “Sammy.”
The memories of the first time he woke return, then. He’s in a hospital. He’s nauseous and in pain, he knows, but somehow he can hardly separate these feelings. One blurs into the other and he's left without solution.
His eyelids won’t obey him.
The light is worse than the dark. It dries him out and sets all that he’s feeling into high relief.
And Sam isn’t here. The man’s hair is too curly and a few shades too dark. The head shape’s all wrong. Sam doesn’t run around in scrubs.
He’s helpless really, but when he shuts his eyes, everything else seems to follow.

According to the late shift’s report, Ralph Pussett might not be recovering from his severe injuries as well as the staff at St. Elizabeth Memorial had hoped. Neurological concerns and further observation necessary, the sheet informs him

Christopher is off the next day, and when he returns for a 12 hour shift on Tuesday he makes a point to inquire about their progress in contacting Ralph’s brother. Nothing, he’s told again

This comment is so nice <3 Thank you!
For the most part I based Christopher on a combination of my nurse aunt and my brother, both of whom may be THE MOST CONSCIENTIOUS BEINGS KNOWN TO HUMANKIND, which is why Christopher wouldn't let me make him stray into ethically incorrect yet perhaps steamy Dean/nurse!OMC action territory. It would just pain his soul! It wouldn't benefit Dean's healing! The gardener comparison is so interesting -- it hadn't occurred to me, but now that you point it out it really makes sense.
