General posting guidelines (spoiler policy, etc.):

  • What can I post here? Dean-centric h/c, but of course. ;) Check out the comm's general information & rules for more info. If you still have questions after that, see our FAQ for further clarification/examples.

  • Spoiler policy: Spoilers at this comm are considered to be anything from an unaired episode, or content from the most recent episode for up to one week after the original air date. Please put such things behind a cut, or under greyed-out text. If you don't know how to grey-out text, here is a handy tutorial. If you don't know how to make an LJ-cut, go here for another handy tutorial.
  • Posting limit: Generally speaking, please don’t make more than one post to the comm in a single day, i.e., one post per (roughly) 24 hours. If you’d like to post multiple chapters/works, you can consolidate them all in one post, or spread the posting out over days. We’d love to see them!

The reasoning behind this is to keep things in our rapidly growing community (which, yay!) from getting too hectic/so as not to flood anyone’s friends-list.

Note: The mods may occasionally make multiple posts a day regarding community events, etc.
  • Please put all fics, spoilers, large or NSFW images, or posts with more than three icons behind a cut: If you don’t know how to use a cut, check this out. Spoilers could instead go under greyed-out text. If you don't know how to grey-out text, check this out.

Spoilers at this comm, like it says above, are considered to be anything from an unaired episode, or content from the most recent episode for up to one week after the original air date.

Large images are considered to be 300 x 300 or in that vicinity. Just keep it playing card size and it's fine.

  • Please don’t link to locked material: If you post a link back to your journal, the post should be public. If you wish to post protected material to the community, you can definitely post the story in its entirety behind a cut here at the comm, and lock the post to members-only. ;)

  • How to post a fic or other fanwork:

    01. As it says above, please put all fics, spoilers, large or NSFW images, or posts with more than three icons behind a cut. If you don’t know how to use a cut, check this out. Spoilers could instead go under greyed-out text. If you don't know how to grey-out text, check this out.

    02. Regarding subject lines:

  • An example of what your subject line should look like if you're posting a fic:
  • Fic: Your title, (part # if applicable, i.e.; 1/?) rating, characters and/or genre/pairing

  • A few examples of what your subject line should look like if you're posting fanart, icons, audiofic, or other submissions:
  • Example #1: Audiofic: Dean Winchester and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, PG-13, Dean, Sam, gen
Example #2: Icons: 20 icons from Yellow Fever

So, just like you do with fic, you put what type of fanwork it is, following that up with your title, rating, characters and/or genre/pairing. (If applicable.)

    03. As far as your actual post goes:

  • If you're posting fic, your header should look something like this:
  • Note: Of course you can add author’s notes to your header or anything else you want to as well. And you totally don't have to use the exact header form provided, but if you want it, it’s here for you. ;)

    Title:

Warnings: If applicable. Please warn for non-con, self-harm, or anything else that might be triggering for people.

    04. Tagging is greatly appreciated and will help people find your posts later. If you don't know how to tag or need a new tag created, see this post.

How to post or submit a rec:

Note: Here's a link that fully explains how our rec system works, but basically:

    a) If you'd like to make your own rec post, you can do that at any time. Reccing guidelines complete with a header form can be found HERE. (No self-recs, please.)

There are monthly reccer sign-up posts occasionally too. This is just to make sure we have at least one rec post per month, and it definitely doesn’t exclude anyone else from making a rec post, whenever! The more recs, the better. <333

    b) If you have a rec/recs but don't want to make your own rec post, or want to rec anonymously, or whatever, you can instead submit your recs HERE to our rec submission post. A mod will make a rec post at the end of each month of everything you’ve sent in during that month. If a month is skipped, that's because there were no recs received that month. (No self-recs, please.)

    c) Aaaand please suggest and link to other fanworks that go with the theme, pairing, characters, etc. in the comments of any rec post. Share the love! These recs won't be part of any of our rec posts, but they're very much appreciated. (Self-recs welcome.)

    Are plot bunnies accepted here?

Not currently. We put on a Dean-focused h/c comment-fic meme every several months, so there will be lots of chances to share plot bunnies there.

Relatedly, simon_says_dean is an LJ community dedicated to Dean-centric plot bunnies, while spn_bunnies is an LJ community dedicated to all SPN plot bunnies!

    Are fic searches accepted here?

Not currently. Try spnstoryfinders; it's a great comm for fic searches.

Or, if it's a specific theme you're looking for, we do occasionally put on themed rec searches/rec submission posts, and we're always taking suggestions for themes people would like to see at this post.

    A note on promotions:

Community, meme and challenge promotions are subject to mod approval; please ask before posting them if in doubt as to whether or not they belong here. Our contact info is listed below, i.e., HERE.

If they're in any way related to the theme of the comm, (e.g. regarding Dean-centric h/c, not regarding Dean-centric h/c but you're looking for that kind of content, or just regarding Dean in general) we're totally going to say yes!

    Any questions?

If you have any questions about the comm that aren't answered above, you can contact your mods at the contact-a-mod post. You’ll get the quickest response by contacting us that way, as we're all tracking that post.

Other good ways to contact us include PM-ing the mod account (hoodietime), or by e-mail, i.e., hoodietime [at] gmail [dot] com. All the mods have access to these things as well.

    In conclusion: ♥
