A Matter of Trust

Once upon a time, a girl I loved with all my heart let me know that she was dismayed that I'd placed too much trust in her, far too soon. She felt this gave her undue power over me, and destroyed the delicate balance of the relationship ( Read more... )

I miss you too. It has been way to long. Next time you are in the valley we should meet up. I would love you to meet my husband. I'm sure you too would like each other very much.

The only people worth having that kind of relationship with are the people that will believe in that kind of trust, and willingly give it to you as well.

I hope that you find that kind of trust and love with someone. You deserve it.

Thank you, honey... I'm not so sure I deserve it, but I want it enough to make up for any lack of justice in acquiring it. ;-)

That was such a cop on her part. That was her admitting, in the shittiest way possible, that she really didn't return your feelings. That patently sucks ass.

You're right though, you only earn trust by being trusted. Its like being given a dollar and putting it in the bank. The only way you're going to earn interest is to have the dollar in the first place.

Bleh.

You make me wish I had a vagina.

I wish the same thing, my love... I wish the same thing.

Yeah, I kinda lost the ability to do that for a while. Not sure how long that's going to go on.

That's a difficult injury to heal.

Maybe, when I come over to drink, we could play those trust-building games they have at corporate retreats... Where we all drink a lot, and then take turns closing our eyes and falling backwards into someone's arms.

Smoke first, I think. ;-)

Funniest. Spinal injury. Ever.

Mind you, friends still get the trust and suchlike to one degree or another. But nobody's gotten that consideration in the romantic sense in quite some time.

Also: I'm kind of a hermit. So that probably doesn't help either.

People ask me a lot why i put so much of myself out there to be hurt. I've lived the other way. I'd rather die than going back to that. You are dead right. Either you give your trust and love blindly, or you have none to give.

Yes... I think there's a certain affection possible without that trust, like you might feel for a pet that you'll later abandon because it's not a cute baby anymore. But... By definition, I think, in order for trust to be trust, it's got to be a risk.
