Here via a rec from selenak. This is magnificent. Lots of witty lines, but I especially love the "ineffable presence" that Steve and Carrot share, because they're basically the same character. They confound everyone with their sheer unadulterated goodness.

Rather scary how well the Avengers team translates to this Universe . . . I imagine Vimes had something cutting to say before Loki was hauled off, and can't help picturing this conversation taking place somewhere in the streets during cleanup:

"'Kneel,' he says. What a complete tosser."

"Great hat, though."

"What, with those great ridiculous horns? Probably compensating for something. Like being a complete tosser."

"Nah, those horns, that's style."

*grumbles* "Whatever. Let's just sweep this rubble under the carpet so we can go home."
