I am really enjoying the continuing development of Rose's and Martha's friendship. I am sure they would have been fast friends in DW given the chance to get to know each other. I like how they were able to discuss their options for destroying the Career's supplies, formulate a plan, and then execute it to perfection. Yeah for Rose and Martha, chips and candy to celebrate your success!

I hope the rule change sticks in your story…just saying.

It is amazing how much canon you are able to bring into your AU. “Besides, they’re better together. They have strengths that complement each other. It’s better not to be alone. Better with two.” I couldn't agree more.

And then there were two…pairs.

The plan worked well simply because it would never have occurred to the Careers that someone would try to destroy their supplies. Steal them, perhaps, but not destroy them. So Rose and Martha's very simple plan ended up being very effective.

"Better with two"--yes, I did have to get that in.

Ooooooh, the little sisters of the Capitol - I like it! Maybe now we'll all get lucky, and both Rose and Martha will make it out of this alive. Though probably not without upsetting someone with their escape... OMG, I cannot wait to see where you're going with this! XD

"Better with two." Oh, I love that line - so glad you managed to work it in here! <3

The Capitol, in its own sick way, has kind of adopted them. Ultimately, though, it's about the show. So, you know it can't be that simple.

Couldn't resist that line, no.

I love scheming Doctor. He's just so scarily good when manipulating people. And I just had to laugh at Donna's comment about not surviving his thoughts. So true!

His story is going to be tangentially related to Gallifrey, isn't it?

I LOVE MARTHA AND ROSE'S FRIENDSHIP. This chapter just... it gave me warm fuzzies. Even with all the horror they can still take time to just be. For a moment, they are just Rose and Martha, best friends and long-lost sisters. I also liked that little insight to their cultures, and how they just bond over everything.

I do have a question: I thought that everything in the arena was computer-generated. So the Capitol just plunks the sphere around some random stretch of land and creates things within, or is the whole landscape created as well?

Thanks for updating! :D

Yeah, the Doc's been busy behind the scenes, working the PR.

And, yeah, you could say his story in this AU is related to his story on the series. Let's just say he has not had a nice life as a victor.

They're sweet, aren't they? Even in the craziness of the arena, they're still finding something good, and that's each other.

The arenas, or so I gather, are real places, either created whole-hat by the Gamemakers or existing places that have been closed off with force fields and rigged with traps and cameras. They're not computer generated, but the Gamemakers have near-total control over the environment within them. So, in this case, they found this nice little valley with an overgrown, long-abandoned factory town, and they've made it into the arena.

No familiarity with Hunger Games, but you've really drawn me in! Nicely written!

(And am I the only one that's hearing alarm bells from the games-masters' announcement that this time, they'll allow a team to win instead of just one person? Either that, or the Doctor showing some more heavy-weight under-the-table influence...)
