Hm. Not sure about crushing on Vetinari (though I haven't read those two books yet, I'm still working through the Night Watch sub-series), but I have *totally* adopted your idea of Burn Gorman voicing Gaspode. It "plays" so beautifully in the brain. :)
Also, FWIW (you may know this already), they've done live-action TV adaptations of both "Hogfather" and "Going Postal," too (I believe the latter just aired.) I saw "Hogfather" and thought they did a very good job of keeping true to the Discworld spirit, so the others should be worth seeing, too. Ian Richardson makes the perfect voice for Death, and then some. :D
I was like, "Hmm, lessee--a voice that's Cockney/London lower-class with sharp edges that can deliver cutting insults, sounds like he's always got a Plot brewing, more than a little sex-obsessed--of course! Owen!"
Where are you in the Watch books? Gaspode, btw, is also a big player in Moving Pictures and The Truth.
I'm currently reading Night Watch, having skipped over Feet of Clay (wasn't able to find that one locally, and haven't gotten round to ordering it from somewhere).
Yeah, I got the impression Gaspode crossed over into multiple series; he showed up in Men At Arms giving off the feel of a character who'd already been introduced somewhere else.
IIRC (and it's very possible that I don't; there are just so many books!), Gaspode first appears in Moving Pictures, which is about movies coming to Discworld and going Very Wrong.
