I understand there's another kerfuffle. I don't care about wankiness, but off
this entry in
misscam's journal, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite women, this time concentrating on the Dresden Files.
--Karrin Murphy, a little five-foot-nuthin' gal who's been known to put the hurt on men twice her size and is one of the only people who can call Harry on his shit when he ventures shit-ward. She's Harry's very best friend; without her, he might've slipped toward the Dark Side more than once.
--Susan Rodriguez, Harry's old lover who must now struggle against her semi-vampiric nature. She lost the man she loved and gained a mission, and last we saw, she was still going strong.
--Charity Carpenter, mother of seven, who went marching into a literal frozen hell to rescue her daughter, and who is still one of the only people who can outright scare Harry. Her husband may be the Knight of the Cross, but she's a warrior in her own right.
--Molly Carpenter, the aforementioned daughter and Harry's strong-willed apprentice. She's had a lot of hard, hard lessons in the past few years, but she's shown she can learn. If she's anything like her mother, and she is, she'll be a force to be reckoned with one day.
--Justine nearly lost her life, a willing sacrifice to save Thomas. Somehow, she recovered not only from the physical damage done to her, but her mind as well. She now walks a careful line as a spy in the White Court, knowing that if she slips once, she's dead. She may also be the only thing, aside from Harry, that anchors Thomas' soul now that he's been broken so badly.
--Lara Raith, White Court vampire, occasional wary ally of Harry's and all-around bad news, but wow, she rocks. She made a puppet out of her own father and now runs the entire White Court from behind the scenes. Trust me, you do not want to get on her bad side. Mess with Lara's family and she will take you down--and she'll enjoy doing it.
--Ivy, the Archive, a young girl with all the knowledge of the ages at her fingertips. She's one of the most frightening creatures Harry's ever come across, and also the most poignant. One moment, she's calmly discussing a duel to the death between Harry and a vampire lord. The next, she's squealing out loud at Harry's cat. And she has a big, Adam Baldwin-esque merc as a security blanket.
--Margaret Le Fey, Harry's mother, left him and Thomas with all the protection she could give them, the limits of which have not yet been revealed. In addition, her death curse put a real cramp in the White Court King's style.
And that's not even including Luccio, Elaine, Lily, Lea or any of the other strong women who people the books.
So. Any women you think are particularly awesome?
