I used to feel so alone in the city. All those gazillions of people and then me, on the outside. Because how do you meet a new person? I was very stumped by this for many years and then I realized, you just have to say "Hi." They may ignore you. Or you may marry them. And that possibility is worth that one word.

i love that too! it's so true! i think the biggest downfall of cities is how lonely they can be -- though they certainly have their perks as well ;-)

i also feel it is my duty to tell you that not all the starbucks cup quotes are that cool. i think that's the best one i've read by far. however, there's a great one from margaret thatcher that says "there is a special place in hell reserved for women who don't help other women." it makes me smile -- and think of sarah palin.
