Oh dear, this is heart-breaking. I feel so sad for Brian, because he encouraged the Ponds to go and now he's lost them forever, and the whole huge painful process of going through their things, you've pictured that perfectly. I have trouble picturing the Doctor ever managing to face Brian again, but maybe I'm not giving him enough credit. The stuff they found, the Doctor craving to break things, and the end - that just broke my heart :(

Yeah, this is my post Ponds fic... with less Pond content than I'd have thought beforehand.

I just couldn't write the Doctor talking to Brian -- others have written lovely fics about it, though...
