So yesterday I was at Best Buy and there was a Buddhist monk there.

How do I know he was a Buddhist monk? Well, he had on saffron robes and he was bald and wearing sandals.

I have no idea what he was doing at Best Buy.

rl, blather

Columbus actually has a really large Somali population, so I'm used to seeing burqas and what-all, but this one honestly had no precedent.

What was he doing at Best Buy in the first place?

I once got blessed by a monk in Japan, after I made a donation. Totally different outfit--that guy had the hat and staff and everything.

My weird sight of the day was when I was driving back to work after running to 7-11 at lunchtime. I turned off of a main road onto a side street and a couple blocks ahead of me I saw what looked like a desk in the middle of the road, then I realized it was MOVING. When I got closer, I discovered that it was a man in a wheelchair with a big boxy end table balanced across the arms of his chair, and he was wheeling it through the middle of the street. Which seems drastically unsafe.

When you said it was moving I thought it was going to be some dude UNDER the desk, crawling along...nevertheless, the reality is still pretty damn weird and yes, highly unsafe.

People, man. WTH.

I love C'bus. I probably would've followed the monk like a creeper to see what he was buying. Something tells me it wasn't Grand Theft Auto.

My strangest mid-Ohio sighting. Hmm. I bumped into--I mean literally bumped into, nose to chest--Ric Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova in the Short North. I'm 5'1". They were both easily a foot and a half taller than me. He's kinda scary-looking. And she's got more wrinkles than I expected. But they were both very nice to the strange little woman who couldn't watch where she was going.

Surreal! But in the end, everyone seems to come to Ohio...
