It's Possible to Forget How to Laugh

Ironically, Forgetting Sarah Marshall reminded me of something I had forgotten for some time. I had forgotten what it was like to enjoy a truly satisfying comedic experience. I didn't even realize what I had been missing until I found myself covering my mouth in sheer delight/shock/awe/recognition on multiple occasions. I don't watch sitcoms ( Read more... )

I haven't convinced anyone to go see Forgetting Sarah Marshall with me yet. A couple of people have said they are interested but have yet to set a date.

I'm curious about what you don't like about 30 Rock or HIMYM. It took me at least 5 episodes to start liking 30 rock and it wasn't until the end of the first season that I started to like the main characters.

I've just started HIMYM, and have been enjoying it almost from the start, but it is very sitcom-y.

My problem with 30 Rock is that I've watched 2 episodes out of sequence and couldn't really care about the characters. I like Tina Fey, a lot, and despite his real life douchiness, I adore Alec Baldwin (more now than I did when he was in Red October and the like), so you would think this would be the show for me. Maybe I should reconsider.

As for HIMYM, I really haven't given the show a chance. Almost 3 seasons have passed and I am so behind now I'm scared to try to catch up. Watching 3 seasons of a 30-minute show isn't as daunting as 10 seasons of hour-long episodes of Stargate (which I've attempted), so there's a chance I'll finally get to see it. I'm anal about seeing episodes in sequence.

OH! Rent the DVD's of HIMYM and watch them with me. I've just started too. Although I've pretty much marathoned the first season. I'm willing to stop and let you catch up.

There are a few 30 rock that I watch and think are bad, but that other people loved. I really did have to watch them in order and give them a few weeks to really start to fall in love.

Right now HIMYM on my queue at Zip.ca but they won't send it out. I guess it's in demand. It's not available at my local Blockbuster either.
