Thinking about picking up my NaNoWriMo project from last year or the year before (can't remember which) and reworking it. Been having a lot of ideas for worldbuilding. Aiming for a mixed fantasy setting rather than just European. Need to do a lot of research to pull that off well.

Obviously I'm not paying as much attention to these things as you are, but what can I say. I've got to give this administration more time to try and accomplish some of its goals. Yeah, Obama may have "backed off" from some stuff, but it does occur to me that becoming President might be one of those things where going in you really do honest-to-goodness have some great things you want to accomplish and change, but when you actually get there maybe you realize there's more opposition/difficulty to overcome in reality than there was just in theory

As I haven't actually gone to sleep yet...

I'd actually forgive him a little more if he and his loudest supporters hadn't been so adamant about making sure that the bulk of his political capital was spent on the health care issue. We couldn't afford to do anything with LGBT rights because it would ruin chances with health care. We were told to wait our turn and they'll get around to us. Why is it then that he's soft-footing on this issue when it was such an important issue to him before?

But haven't you heard, Gero? There are people who -- GASP! -- don't like the health care from those other countries. Oh wait. They were just duped into saying that they didn't by insurance lobbyists. Whoops.

OH AND OBAMA IS HITLER AND SOCIALISM IS GOING TO BE THE END OF THE WORLD THE ANTI-CHRIST IS HERE HE'S A KENYAN JIHADIST AND THEY'RE GONNA KILL GRANDMA AND WHAT ABOUT MY AMERICA I WANT MY AMERICA BACK

The negotiations are pissing me off a lot; not because they're happening, but because, essentially, they're going like this:

Republicans: No, we can't have health care improvements, it'll harm the industry!
Democrats: Okay...well, we can scale it back if it'll get your vote.
Republicans: We can do that.
Democrats: Awesome.
Republicans: DEATH PANELS LEAD BY NAZI PINKO SOCIALISTS OOGA BOOGA!
The Gullible: AAAAAHHHHHH!
Democrats: Okay...uh, we can scale it back further....

It's getting to the point where those that are hard left (like me) are wondering why they're even trying to get these jackasses' approval when they keep using the same idiotic rhetoric after concessions are made. The Republicans don't want it to pass, period. :P

Exactly. They only want to discuss reform under their terms, and they're doing their damnedest to force Democrats to do just that when we could logically ignore them completely and focus on the Blue Dog Democrats and their votes. But it appears a lot of those Congresspeople are afraid of losing their seats to Republicans if they vote "the wrong way" on this bill. Fuck, if they're going to vote Republican anyway, what's the difference?
