Cassandra had been paying close attention to the network, so, of course, she had seen the less than subtle warning about wandering off by herself. She had seen it, but that didn't stop one of her walks from happening. She couldn't control they. They controlled her. Just like a vision, although she had to admit they were usually far more comforting. Not today though. Today, Cassandra's feet had led her far from the path, into a wild world that was so unlike anything she had known. She had seen forests before, but there was an energy here. It was dark and dismal and she wanted to turn back ( ... )

[ He watched her from the safety of the trees above. They were encroaching on wolf territory, now, and he knew there were certain... limitations to his strength here. He would have to act quickly, but he enjoyed watching her walk - the pulse of her heart wavering through the air, the inhale and exhale of her breath. He watched and he followed, slipping from one canopy to the next. Soon she would come to an area that pressed against the side of the mountain, and there he would make his move. ]

Cassandra paused, her fingers poised over the keys of the device. Was that a noise? Certainly not. She was simply inventing company for herself, like always. If she wasn't careful, next she'd hear Othryoneus speaking to her and that would not do. Not at all.

Sighing softly, she started to key in her pathetic message. She felt so embarrassed. It was very much in character for her to get lost. Asking for help...well, that would take some getting used to. All of her reclaimed humanity and she still lacked much humility. Clearly, she was every bit Priam's daughter.

"Would someone mind telling me where the caravan is in relation to the mountain," she murmured, punching in the keys.

[Man, Bret never realized how much he liked being able to walk on the actual ground until he spent most of the time on a big caravan thing.

Maybe he misses New Zealand as much as New York. He does miss his sheep and his dogs...

Oh well. It's not as if he can get very far into the actual wilderness here.]

[ She knows the darkness shields the unnaturalness of her form - after all, bipedal wolves are in odd occurrence. She crouches in the hedges, however, poking her snout out into the air as she observes this man wandering about aimlessly, bright eyes watching silently. She allows herself to pant, announcing her presence. ]

[What's that sound?

Bret looks around, squinting into the darkness. It sounds like a--

A dog! Or-- holy flip! A wolf.]

...Hello. [Wave.] Can I pet you?

[ YOU ARE. The Marshal lifts his head in surprise, perhaps waking up from what had been an impromptu nap, shoving his glasses higher up his nose as he shakes off his sleepiness and coughs. Loudly. ]

Oh, hello there! Are you the Way-Warrant's charge?

[ HI MARSHAL. The Rookie likes you already, a fellow napper! Anyway, he nods and salutes, then looks a bit helpless for a moment, before pointing at his rank insignia printed on the chest piece of his body armour, in the faint hope that it will help anything at all. ]
