Characters: whatsacliche and YOU Setting/Location: About the town Date & Time: Day 23, afternoon Warnings: Cuteness, probably. Summary: Makeshift baseball time!
For the most part, Santana didn't mind being in the weird town. There were lots of other kids her age, and she wasn't allowed to eat so much candy at home but no one stopped her here. But sometimes she really missed her house and her bed and her parents.
Now was one of those times. She was wandering around, trying not to feel lonely, but luckily she came across a boy being dumb. It cheered her up and made her giggle.
"That was funny," Santana replied without hesitation. "Why are you hitting dirt?" She had another lollipop with her; she liked those. She almost tried to hoard them, just in case they all disappeared and she couldn't find any more.
Finn scowled, embarrassed. "I didn't know it was dirt. Duh."
He turned away, hoping she'd get bored and leave if he stopped talking to her. Although he kind of wanted someone to play with. He wasn't sure if it was cool to play with girls, though. The teenage mutant ninja turtles hung out with April and there were girl power rangers, but he was pretty sure he wasn't supposed to hang out with girls unless they were really cool or something.
He crouched, testing a few rocks before deciding on a particularly solid one. Standing again, he peered over his shoulder at the girl. "Are you really cool?"
Burt was still really confused about what exactly he was doing here. That weird guy on the phone (the really weird phone) said a lot of stuff about demons and underwater cities, and other stuff that he didn't really understand. It would be a lot scarier if it made sense.
He didn't really try asking more, though. Too many things he didn't like hearing. Maybe that guy should've just said it was magic and left it alone.
So for the day, he wasn't thinking about demons or missing home or that kid who had the same last name- he was walking around until he found something to do, or until cowboys started being really fun again. When the kid with the long hair tried hitting a dirt clod, he figured that could be a good place to start and walked up.
"I think hitting dirt means you get a ball and not a strike."
Finn sputtered, wiping his face. He looked at the other kid, trying to tell if he recognized him, only to decide he didn't. Which sucked. And made this either more or less embarrassing, he wasn't sure which.
...At least what he said was funny. He grinned a little sheepishly, shrugging. "If you say so." He walked a little closer, looking the kid over. "You wanna play?" Baseball was generally more fun with two people...
No one else around here ever seemed to play any good games. It was really annoying. Without much of a pause, he looked the kid over in turn and tacked on: "I'm Burt. Who're you?"
let's just say this took place after Santanta aldksdakjswhatsaclicheOctober 19 2010, 14:31:30 UTC
Finn grinned, excited. This kid was awesome already. "Finn! Finn Hudson!" Remembering his encounter with the girl before, he caught himself before adding the bit about the nickname he disliked. Chances were he'd avoid it if nobody knew about it.
He held up the bat a little. "Do you wanna bat or throw?"

Not.
Blushing hotly, he looked around for the laughing person, hoping they were just passing through. But she wasn't. Darn.
"What're you laughing at?" he snapped, his temper short thanks to the humiliation twisting his heart.
